Got myself an M4

Hi guys, Geoff here, 36, South UK. Previous car history: vw polo, then most recently 2014 328i m sport for 4 years. Got divorced last year so thought I'd treat myself to something fun. Wanted a manual and convertible and managed to track this 2015 with 37k on the clock down. Car is utterly mint, bmw approved used. Wouldn't have chosen the colour (or wheels) but I love it now.

Very happy, may have some questions in future.

Cheers

P.s yes, I've already curbed the alloys and have since touched them up terribly ah well.

I may not have gone out of my way for the wheels (per say) - but the color is fantastic. Course, I'm a sucker for blue cars.

Congrats on the buy...and enjoy.

The beginning of your post sounds like a dating profile 😂. Welcome and enjoy! There is a wealth of information on here.

Pro tip: don't lose sleep about the crank hub.
Do that in due time, if you want.

I wasn't gonna tune it so wasn't worried about the crank hub. I have a year's bmw warranty so, we'll see.

Yeah, to be honest it's not as fast as I was expecting, compared to the 328i. And my gsxr 1000...

Some people on here act like in stock form this is already too fast. Maybe for them it is, but it’s all about context. Case in point, the vert does slow it down (weight) but owning a liter bike makes it feel slow until you go full E85 kill map. Then it’s a different story.

Turn traction control off and stomp it from a dig, the car is a mid to high 11's car.

Comparing it to a 328i is disrespectful, the 328i would get absolutely murdered.

Litre bikes are bikes, hard to compare but M4 on E85 stock turbos could rape one.

E85 FBO upgraded turbo's would absolutely kill anything not a hyper car.

It's all I've got to compare it to!

Maybe it just doesn't feel so much faster, even if it is, because it's refined. I suspect a stock mx5 (few gens old) might "feel" faster, even if its way slower. I dunno. I saw an interesting video on donut media about speed sensation the other day actually.

But like I say the sound makes up for it all. And I kinda like the M badge too.

Question: my F30 328i had remote window opening and closing. And remote opening boot. My f83 seems to have remote opening windows which is cool. But not remote closing. And no remote opening boot. And it often seems locked even when the car is open. I can unlock just the boot remotely which is fine. Am I missing something? No comfort access I don't think from touching the handles and running my foot around the tailpipes with the key in my pocket.

Cheers

You can have that coded in or just hold down the lock button on your remote and it works. I have done this in my F83 but it acts flaky something and you need to have comfort access package I think.

Thanks. Holding the lock button definitely doesn't close the windows, but holding open does. No biggie.

Also, discovered the seat badges light up - very cool!

328 is peppy so was my GTI everything is quick up until about 75 MPH.

What year GSXR1000?

I've got quite a bit done to my Zx10r and been on NJMP thunderbolt track.

Ah nice! Gixxer is 2020 - haven't tracked it yet, might get something a bit cheaper to do so in case I bin it. Tried to upload an attachment, not sure if it worked.

OP how long have been riding liter sport bikes?

The current stock liter bikes run 10 seconds stock at 150 mph and a top speed of 180 to 188 GPS mph

Overall That's the best liter bike out and I'm a kawi guy.

You can track it no problem.

Don't try to be Alex Rins and you'll be fine!

just ride at your ability not above.

Even in novice group some tracks you'll reach 165
It's very controlled

Now the Open group is where you can have a bad day
