Tons of little rough black chips, and I am incredibly OCD about my car. It is coated with CQuartz. The rocker panels and rear fender area look awful on white.

Doubtful; I used CarPro Reset shampo on my CQuartz-coated car, all high quality stuff. I have an eye for detail, which is a blessing and a curse, and I see everything, especially the imperfections on the rocker panels behind front and rear wheels. On white, it just looks like crap. I lose my M3 CS in SMB...but I do miss the Yas Marina Blue. It was such a unique color when the sun hit it. SMB blends in more.

I got over the baby blue with the LSB back with my e46. I had a Tiag but a friend of mine had and still has his lsb on lsb. It was all the rage but it lost its lustre for me so I never even considered the baby blue on the f82. I wanted Silverstone but couldn't find a Silverstone with black 6m and ccbs anywhere when I was looking. I picked up an Austin Yellow and im so happy I did. this color has blown me away in so many ways

I love my CQM. Zero regrets, even when it looks Buick brown. I honestly don’t see an M3 that looks bad tho.

I must've gotten lucky maybe. I picked my 2018 up with 17k miles (Mineral White) and there are very few rock chips on the rocker panels or rear fenders. I've found a few very small ones but you have to get up extremely close to notice them.

I went ahead and got a set of Tommy's mud flaps though just in case. Because I'm OCD like you are and I was super nervous about spraying that area with rocks every time I drove anywhere haha

yes, rock chips are pain...but that's a DD issue. "easy" in terms of water etching, swirls, dirt. A black car looks AWESOME for about 24hrs after a detail. It shows EVERYTHING.

His mud flaps are good idea, but I think they would be too noticeable and stand out on a white car (with black flaps), so I just don't think it'd look good. IMO, flaps look good only on a Subaru rally car.

San Marino Blue isn't crazy at all. It's a really unique and beautiful color without being overbearing. Everybody likes it.

Yas Marina is where it can get dicey. It's a love it or hate it color. Personally I adore it and would 100% get an M3/4 in YMB.

I had a 2015 f80 Silverstone on carbonstructure interior. I now have a 2018 f80 Avus blue on SO interior. I do not regret either color, Silverstone was so easy to keep clean and Avus looks dirty after a day or two but otherwise a beautiful combo. Imola red was also a consideration when I got my Avus blue but that Superman combo got me.

That's what I was worried about too but they're pretty subtle, and I got the front only.

I have a 2018 though, so my 666's are mostly black. Plus the car has the carbon roof, and the M Performance package too so the front splitter, rear spoiler, and exhaust tips are all black/carbon. The mirror caps are also carbon, so the black flaps pretty much just blend in with the rest of the Stormtrooper/Panda look so they're not too noticeable (to me anyway).

Went from AW 428i GC to a MG M4 and had so much buyers remorse.. mineral grey just hid the beautiful and aggressive lines of the M in my opinion... Anyways, god listen and my “certified” MG M4 was tuned by previous owner and I was able to get my money back and go back to white!! AW M4 I love it!!

I have to say that AW doesn’t show well once you have any dust on the back and it rains. Dead spot for airflow on the bumper so it just turns into a dirty mess. Have had white cars before and this one is the only one where that’s been much of an issue. Anywhere else and it hides dirt pretty well.

Imola is one of my favorite colors I've owned.

I got mine in BSM. I don't regret it so much, especially not when it's clean. Maintenance is just a pain so my next color is definitely gonna be a light color. Can never do white. Too many white bmw's out there and the majority of the owners are chicks so I may get killed for this but to me white is such a chick color.

where do you find custom color M3s like Nardo Gray? I can't get enough of that color. Do they come factory painted or are these after market paint?

Probably because it should have not been certified so dealer had to take it back to avoid getting sued and receiving demerits from BMWNA and their state regulator.
