itouch 6th gen

i got an itouch, with the bmw m lap timer downloaded. plus it has my full playlist for ED

I'll be picking up my right in a bit over a week. is the connection with firewire/usb give full access to music and apps, or does it require more?

i ask because i plugged the itouch to my f3x (no connected apps, and no enh bluetooth), and couldn't get the music to work. up until now i have used a thumb drive

Just USB and the app. You have to have the app open for it to show up in idrive.

Hm. So USB for maps, bluetooth for itouch to stream music and use the apps.

I will also put all my music, and playlists on usb to load to the car. What format of playlists does the car use?

I don't use playlists. I just shuffle genres. I plugged in a 500gb hard drive

You put in a 500 GB to what port? Solid state?

The port in the center console. I have a cable and USB port in route for the glove compartment. That way I'll have my center USB port back.

It's a normal 2.5" sata hard drive. It can even play movies (some coding required )

any physical hacking needed? i can do the coding

No hacking required. I'm trying a cable that is being sold on eBay for $16 that should be the same as the over $100 BMW part numbered cable. If not then I'm only out $16 The USB port is still $40 and I picked up a net for the top of the glovebox to hold the hard drive. I'll post up once I get everything in and installed.
