Confirmed: Recalled Driveshaft Replacement is still CFRP

Just completed the recall on my 2016 GTS. Confirmed replaced with Carbon Fiber Driveshaft.

Why is there a recall for CFDS? Only GTS models?

Trying to get rid of my car, no dealer will take it because they cant resell it with the recall outstanding and have not had parts available since it was issued in October 2018. Im just trying to get them to take my car back since this recall is legally prohibitive of my ability to move this car. BMW has been terrible about handling this issue.

I just left my local dealer. Needed some parts (another water filter!). I asked the parts guy to look up the components for the recall and he said there were 161 in the US. I didn't get into specifics as to the part numbers, just took what he said at face value. Went around the corner to the service department and they were swamped so the service writer is going to call me back. I'll let you know what is said but it seemed promising that the parts guy said there are parts available. Of course, 1+1 might not =2 in this situation...

Service manager called back...parts not released for warranty. Got my hopes up!

I have to agree with Beat TX. Seems like BMW would offer some sort of benefit to owners of cars with a recall this serious. What if it their only car?

I talked with my Service Writer last week, he's a personal friend as well. There are parts in the US for the repairs, however, he told me my car is not eligible yet. They are being distributed for repairs in accordance with VIN#'s. He told me he would let me know when they are available for my car.

You need to file a complaint with the NHTSA and tell them the recall is taking too long. I did it myself. Takes 5 minutes on the phone.
