Sure! What do you need to know?

Following along here (also a code noob), one suggestion to try when having connectivity issues would be to turn off your phones Bluetooth while working. I agree with the airplane mode tip as well. I have a Nikon D3200 that will NOT transfer pic files via WiFi dongle when Bluetooth is on in the phone. Seems the dual signals somehow cause havoc with the transfer software. May be the same issue with the coding package (?)

I cannot get this to work through bimmercode. Only when I brought it to a shop and they plugged the car into a laptop was I able to get 5 blinkers to work in my 2016 F80. It does not work in my 2018 i3.

Does anyone know what the three chimes gongs dings dongs (covering all descriptive words for future searchers lol) fall under during startup? Can it be turned off?
I know there is the legal disclaimer on the screen (which I disabled) and seat belt chimes, but that only starts happening when I am in motion. EDIT: Nevermind I found it under initial seat belt warning. Someone asked this already but I didn't see an answer, is a check engine light on before actually starting the car mean anything? I don't remember it being there before I started using Bimmercode but I'm not positive. Last edited by bigrum; 03-14-2019 at 08:16 PM.. |

CarPlay
Hi, Guys
This is my first post. I hope I'm not asking old questions :-| I just got a 2019 X5 (my first BMW) And me and my wife are having a hard time trying to connect/pair our iPhones with CarPlay. Once we have one iPhone paired, it takes a lot of connecting and disconnecting to switch between iPhones. The BMW Genius told us, since the iPhone connects using WiFi instead of Bluetooth, there's not much he can do about it. I even asked him if having Enhanced Bluetooth will make any difference (I don't have Enhanced Bluetooth) and he said no, it will be the same. So,,, my questions are: Is he right?, thats's the way it is? Am I doing something wrong, and need to learn a little more? Do I need to "Code" something? Thank you |

Just coded my 2017 F80 with the Veepeak wireless obd2 dongle and BimmerCode.
The dongle was on sale for $25 on Amazon. Pretty satisfying that I can DIY without paying $100+ for a coding session. Next step is waiting for the Thor flasher to come in so I can code back in my GTS settings

I'm late to the party, but count me as another very happy customer. I coded everything I wanted to in a relatively short time.
I used the Bluetooth OBDLinkMX+ dongle. It is more expensive ($79/Amazon), but I liked the extra features and I can use it to code my F150 as well. I had zero connection issues as in it never dropped out once. So I'm also very happy with that. I used it with an iPhone X to do the coding and remember to put it in airplane mode plus disconnect the bluetooth to the car. I went slow and coded each feature before moving on to the next. This is time consuming/cumbersome logging out of BimmerCode/reconnecting to it and the modules because it has you shut the car down after each code and restart the ignition. Remember to disconnect from the BT to car each time as well. I had zero problems doing it this way. If you choose to do it this way it is a bit time consuming. And for that reason I opted to put my CTEK charger on. Remember the M3/4 batteries are Li and use a specific charger made for these batteries. Also use the under-hood connection points and don't connect it directly to the battery. You may have to for this . Last, I had a bit of trouble coding the Euro Brake Force/Flashing and had to find that in different threads. For the F30 they had an easy on/off option, but the M3 didn't so you have to use expert mode in the FEM as well. It is as follows. 1. Go into the Front Electronic Module or FEM_01 then Expert mode. 2. 3060 LceMaster 3. ESS_AKTIVIERBARER_AUSGANG 4. bremslicht_blinkend 5. Code Then if you want the full version remember to go into the Rear Electronic Module or REM_01 then Expert mode. 1. 3062 LceLampMapping1 2. MAPPING_BREMS_L_OUTPUT 3. bl_l 4. MAPPING_BREMS_R_OUTPUT 5. bl_l 6. Code Hopefully not TL/DR, but I'm a coding noob/beginner and I wanted to update the thread a bit for others like me. Just take your time and happy coding, it works great! Thanks, but I'm guessing the developers are busy with other things. But, I agree if they had some sort of tutorial support for common/most wanted coding features it would probably help their sales.

Best option?
I'm new to the community and I'm seeing that there is a lot of mixed opinions for coding solutions. Is bimmercode the best solution? Seems like a great tool for the money?

Best tool there is. The best part about it, it works, easy to use and isn’t tied to your VIN so you can use it on multiple vehicles if you own multiple BMWs or just trying to help out a friend with coding.

So, because this is what I do, I prepared the attached spreadsheet based initially on the functions on the bimmercode website and then adapted to what was available when I connected to my F80 M3. I am not sure if this will also help with anyone else, but I found having a print-out helped me prepare and track my coding in the event I need to restore back-ups.
I have not yet coded the highlighted changes I wanted where it requires a back-up to revert. I thought that doing those last would reduce the need to revert and re-code other items that do not require a back-up. Some things I did notice as I was going through the exercise are below, and welcome anyone who can answer these questions. 1. Back-ups: When reverting to a back-up, is this done on an ECU by ECU basis? Or does it revert all changes back to the back-up file date? I was curious as there only appears to be a back-up option available after you enter a particular ECU in the app. 2. M Laptimer: I have seen this referred to as needing expert mode. Does this refer to compatibility with an iPhone connected with the app or is there a native M Laptimer app that can be activated without a phone (I am an Android user, so that would be awesome). I already see the M Laptimer when an iPhone with the app is connected. 3. Brake Force Display: Does this require expert mode settings to be changed as it appears that I already have it active (weak braking at 5km/h) in the ECU? (I would need to find an appropriate place to test and have someone watch). 4. Convenient Closing/Opening vs Comfort Access/Closing: I am somewhat confused between these concepts as Bimmercode seems to use them interchangeably and the manual seems to distinguish. These apply to coding on opening/closing windows or side mirrors, and I wasn't entirely sure if I was coding what I wanted, eg using the comfort access (?) when I unlock by holding the door handle, having the side mirrors unfold. This currently is not working for me. That's it for now, if anyone would like the excel to create their own reference sheet, I would be happy to share.

I have a 2019 M4 comp and just tried using bimmerocde for the first time to turn up the angel eye brightness. I connected via the veepeak adapter and when I coded the sensors went nuts. It didn't change brightness at all. Anyone have any ideas?
