Garret GTX28 Plug and Play Turbos From VTT!. The Game Changer!

You guys saw the title. Vargas released the turbo kit for S55 on their
Few days later they announced it on their website.

They title it as S55 GC Turbocharger Upgrade. (GC stands for Game Changer)

Quote:
WHP Level supported (with proper fuel, upgrades, and tuning) Stock-800WHP

VTT S55 GC Turbochargers. GC stands for "Game Changers" and that is exactly what these do! They bring a fully new casting Stainless Steel turbine manifold/housing, all new compressor housing with single piece high flow inlet, as well as our tried, and true V2 GC CHRA with a GTX28 profile wheel, and custom compressor wheel. These turbos have NO core charges, keep your stock turbos, sell them, hold them if you want to go back to stock etc. The turbos will come with custom VTT silicone inlet hoses to mate up with all inlets on the market making them 100% plug, and play. There is no better, more powerful, or well thought out upgrade on the market at any price point!

(Price is for both turbos)

Engine oil choice with upgraded turbochargers is a very important aspect for longevity, we only recommend 40W oils and higher, with high Zinc, and Phosphorus content, for high shear strength.

Every set of VTT turbochargers comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Please read our Warranty / Emissions Disclaimer when checking out for more details.

Now the most important question : how are they comparing to PureTurbos Stg2+ in terms of power, spool and reliability?

Only Vargas can answer these questions.
Garret is well known turbocharge manufacture and the GTX series tend to be very reliable compared to the normal GT series.
Their prices are spot on compared to any other turbo upgrade for S55.

Are these actual GTX28 internals or some parts only? This looks like a good option.

What makes this very appealing is no core charge.

return to stock or sell these when you part with the car, that a big PLUS for me.

What define the GTX or GT series is the CHRA. You can't remove the turbine fan from gtx and put it on different turbos and call it "GTX".

What makes their kit plug and play is the manifold and custom housing which have nothing to do with CHRA and doesn't effect it.

This could actually be the game changer. I've used GTX 2860 on my previous project car and it's fast! That was on GTX V1, in 2014 Garret released GTX V2 which is complete redesign for better and more efficiently power

These arent Garret turbos, theyre called gc game changers. The same style turbo setup they use in the 335i community. I be careful, look at some of the reviews from the n54 community. Look at all the post about the reliability of these and the bad support from Tony. Just take a quick google search.

These turbos are supposed to be totally different than the garbage that was sold before. It's a totally different turbo. These are Garrett CHRAs in custom compressor and custom turbine housings, while the old ones were modded Mitsubishi turbos is my understanding. There was a long thread on the difference.

I'm just wondering when the hell they are coming out with the Single turbo kit they have been promising since the end of 2k17 that would be done final quarter of 2k18?????

That is the ultimate setup to break records but it will not be plug and play unless some CNC machining is involved along with other CAD designs parts.. only time will tell how hard/easy it can be to instal doc_race kit.

Nope. CHRA has nothing to do with GT vs GTX. It's the fact the comp wheel is billet in the X.

The difference between CHRA is whether it's ball or journal bearing, which is defined by an R in the model name.

You're right.
Well obviously the wheels are different between GT and GTX. You also can't purchase GTX wheels and install it on your turbos then call it GTX Turbo. They are all one piece, one need the other..

Remind me of their DBB N55 turbo a few years back. They combined the hybrid compressor/turbine with the genuine GTX CHRA, except for the stock manifold. The result wasn't all that impressive.

BTW, 4K USD isn't expensive at all for what they're offering now, provided they work.

SeanWRT exactly what i am saying, not badly priced at all.

https://mmp-e.com/collections/produc...-235i-1m-335is

these guys have done great work with the n54 guys and the turbos have been proven, they should jump into s55 as well.
but you can see it similar design with the cast exhaust side.

I know vargas has a bad rep for some shity old units back in N54 days, but maybe these are a Game changer

If they respond I hope they gave detailed updates instead of the “We have the irons in the fire”comment!!!

And at least the other vendors ,AA and Pure turbos ,you can actually speak with someone. AA has new turbo stuff coming out too.

whoop_ass contacted them and they seemed to reply fast, hopefully he can copy paste what they said.

As for other options I never knew AA is cooking something for S55!

Evolve automotive also have something for s55 coming soon

Doc_race have some serious turbo kit for s55 coming up.
