Do you recommend going there as part of a private track day or are the Touristenfahrten auch okay? Never been there yet but want to go next year with my F80 and would definitely get an instructor to drive with me in the car.

Did you have it built all at once or modified it bit by bit before sending it to Tom?

Touristenfahrten seems like choas: no helmets and no experience required. It's so un-German.

I can spend hours watching touristenfahrten YouTube fails.

Curious what OP recommends. From my research, private track days are not as common as they are stateside.

Really cool looking car.

ebisu8 Thanks Dom! It's nice to see you on the Forum

swagon This was an in-house build by Team Schirmer... However, I was contracted around the time the car was first being built and I was the third vehicle I helped build with Team Schirmer.

While I was building it, I fell in love even more with the F80 platform and bugged the owner to sell it to me for over two years, to which he did in the end

But yes, I built it under guise from Team Schirmer.

mapster37 To answer your question, yes it makes a massive difference Sir!

For all the questions about track days -

Yes, they run various track days on the Nürburgring all year round with companies such as DN - Destination Nürburg or Circuit Days Events. there are more and they can be found online.

I do like to drive Tourist drives, but there are many that have no idea what it entails. If you don't know the track then TF is a good way to learn at your own pace. I find that most get suckered into driving way beyond their ability or talent level and that's when crashes happen.

Thank you to everyone that has commented and given compliments!

I do apologise for the long awaited replies, things a busy here in the off season getting ready for season start

I would also like to add...

Take YouTube Fails with a pinch of salt.

Yes, people crash during tourist drives but this is not as common as you think, even on busy days with around 400 cars on track.

The videos posted are usually spanned and collected over days and or weeks.

While driving on the Nürburgring can be nerve racking to new people and drivers, it is only as dangerous as you make it. If you stick to your driving skill level and learn at a slow pace then you shouldn't have an issue.

I have done over a thousand laps without issue, but that doesn't mean I know everything there is to know about it. I have nearly crashed on multiple occasions myself, I also come from rally, tarmac rally and hill climb driving background along with preteens GP 2 stroke riding background which helps a lot.... but I am always still learning on the Green Hell.

Like I said, take the videos online with a pinch of salt. Come, drive and feel the track to make your own decisions.

Project_Rogue,I realize now that you may not be able to receive PMs, but I sent you a PM about the dash setup as well. Would love to connect and discuss more as I've been on the fence with picking up an MXG logger for my M2.
