Keep 16 f83 or save for 18, 19, or 20 M4

I have a 16 f83 in yas marina blue with absolutely no mods. When seeing F8X's with carbon lips, diffusers, etc. I love them, and not 100% satisfied with my f83.

It would take me around 5-7 months to trade my f83 in for cash and pay the difference also in cash. Also the new would come with all the carbon fiber. I would get an f82 comp or cs or heritage, whatever I can find near me and in great condition.

I guess my question is should I keep my f83 completely stock, at a state I am not 100% satisfied with, and save for several months to just buy one in which I would be beyond happy with. Or, I can do all the mods to my f83 (stage 2 & carbon fiber), but by the time I am done with modding the f83, it would cost just as much as I would need to save to get the f82 in a newer year.

Kinda stuck here and need help.. I don't want any answers like "just save your money." I am going to do one of the decisions either way, so save yourself time & don't write it. I just need other peoples insights and thoughts.

If you are not satisfied with the F83 and prefer the looks of the F82, I would just go for that. You should enjoy what you are driving. The question is would you do stage 2 to the new one as well or are you only considering doing it to the current car if you keep it?

I personally prefer the F80/82 over the F83, but I am not a convertible type of person.

I would also go stage 2 on the f82. I barley use the convertible and prefer the looks of the f82. I appreciate the insight.

IMO, build the car you have and pick all the exact parts you want instead of dealing with the stress of selling and sourcing another one that matches your requirements. I bet once you start modding and designing your own unique build you will find you love it again.

I would sell and buy the car you want. The convertible top has a lot more moving parts that could be more prone to failure in the future.

I love convertibles and seriously considered an F83, but couldn’t get past how good the F82 looks.

Stage 2 requires DPs and running DPs with the top down you'll suffocate from the smell.

I'm in the same boat with an F83 but have all the carbon parts already installed and modded to my taste. The car is almost paid off so im just debating on waiting for the car market to crash and picking up a used g80 or the new CS.

This is a good point.. I was going to go catless. I canceled my intakes because I am seriously considering selling, and DPs would actually be ordered tomorrow. Is the smell really that bad?

What's the current condition of your f83? If its in great shape and low mileage I would say keep it and mod it. If it's got issues and high in mileage I would sell and buy a newer and lower mileage car with the mods you desire. You can definitely find modded out f82s with carbon and exhaust because everyone who owns these cars mod the shit out of it, this will save you tons of money and time.

Just my $0.02 as a fellow 2016 F83 owner. I think this model year and chassis is very reliable with proper maintenance, and it still looks very modern. It may actually be a "future classic," so that alone is to me a good argument for keeping it. While the G83 also turns my head when I go to the dealership, I still prefer the F83. And I say that coming directly from an E93! Anyway, not a bad decision for you to make.

Coupe will always be the purist car and in the case of f8x the f82 looks far better than the convertible f83

I would keep stock and sell it, then buy the car that you really want.
