BMW of bayside unplugs dash cams when you take it in for service. They give it back to you unplugged too.

While I'd prefer to have my dash cam rolling, I can't blame someone for not wanting to be on camera.

I've done it unabashedly. Especially knowing how some dealership techs "test drive" cars. It has nothing to do with monitoring, more about letting them know to be on their best behavior. Sucks to have to do it, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Considering that the dealerships have multiple cameras on you when you enter the property, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Easy. Get a camera w/a built in battery, and a 12v connector. Disconnect the 12v connection to the camera so they think it's off, then set it to motion recording only. The battery usage will be minimized so that it will (hopefully) last long enough to record any shenanigans.
