"Smoked" 437m wheels?
Heya F80 gang,
When I first got my F80, I noticed the wheels had this "smoked" look to them on the very edge of the wheel. It sorta extends to the double spokes. I thought that it was something possibly the PO had run through on the highway, etc. and tried several methods to try and polish/buff it out. Well as I did that, it became clear that this actually looked like it was done on purpose, and looks like it was painted on. I then saw a few weeks ago a fellow member selling a set of "smoked, black" 437m's for sale. So, is the smoking of these wheels an actual thing? I frankly think it doesn't look that great, and I will more likely get these painted or pc'ed. First world problems, but I wish they were NOT smoked... haha. Thanks for any insight! josh |

Are you talking about the silver part on the Jet Black 437M wheels? If so, then yes, the silver parts aren't bare metal with clear clear-coat, they are painted silver and then a smoke clear is added. It's very hard to tell unless you see on that has been damaged, and then it's pretty obvious.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
I will post some pics when I can. But I think I see what you are saying. I really just need to stop being lazy and get these things properly PC'ed. THe "smoke" O talk about looks like the rim is dirty at all times. That clear coat was NOT put on well on this set of wheels... josh |
