Thank you prodding me to pursue it further. I am now a convert! Still love the M3 though, just not as much! :-) |

Y'all can hate on the car all you want...it's not gonna make the f80 better
Drove the quad. 1. Yes it's faster 2. Yes it hold power to redline where the f80 drops (stock and when mine had 540whp) 2. Yes it sounds better (below 2500rpm it sounds like f80, but that's where it ends) 3. Yes looks are subjective but the Alfa is more "elegant"...f80 is more aggressive 4. Yes the car puts power to the ground better (and yes my f80 had r compound tires..and had radials at one point) 5. The chassis is more toss-able in the f80 6. Yes the tech is more refined in the f80

I understand it is the newest and shiniest thing in the market right now. It is perfectly fine to drive a zf auto, but most all supercars have dcts and there's a reason why. I have both zf and dct, there's quite a difference between them in terms of driving feel, even if the shifts are both lightning quick. That is not to say I don't agree with your other points, exhaust sound of the m3 isn't like an amg or the alfa.

Everyone has their own opinions. CAR has it beating an M3 Comp...so there's that. Look, I don't think anyone can say anything unless they get behind the wheel of one. That's like saying Porsche is stupid..drive a gt3 and then say that lol

It should be. Haven't stopped thinking about the car, definitely think it's my next one!

I'm always objective and honest with my commentary. I don't hold biased opinions like you just did. I despise fanboydom and remain critically agnostic about all brands and models. Learn from my example!

I think the tone of this thread is starting to be a bit too partisan for me. I love my BMW's but I don't bash the competition because it's different.
In my view Alfa Romeo has a sporting heritage that BMW can only dream of, but most of the people in this forum are not aware of it and don't know car history (and probably are not interested in it).

No need to learn from your example, I learned from my experience, no thank you. Back In Europe they call them Gigolo: Cute but unreliable. Enjoy it, I hope this one is better. I am waiting for your full honest update. |

The Alfa is miles ahead of it engineering-wise. I'm sure like any first year model, there may be a few hiccups, but BMWs are not exactly known to be uber reliable either, despite the latest J.D. Power initial customer satisfaction survey results. With that said, my 3 BMWs over the years have been rock solid overall. Like you said, maintenance AND early detection awareness are the key to a good ownership experience. |

Yeah, that Enzo guy who, as a driver was second (1st in his class) at the famed Targa Florio and then decided to manage a racing team because he thought he was not talented enough as a driver... And that other Alberto guy who only won 2 Formula 1 world championships...
