I went with EC7 square setup 18x10" ET25 in satin black. This is my dedicated track setup, tires are Nitto NT01 275/35 all round, it's still 1 month until the track season opens here, but I already put them on. Seems not that bad in the city, ride is even more compliant than stock however they are definitely nosier, but I don't care because race car.

Grip seems sufficient even though it's still cold and I'm on BM3 stage 1, there is definitely more grip than on my stock 20" wheels with PS4S 285/30 tires at the rear and they are spinning like crazy on 1-st and 2-nd, so to me there is a clear advantage in going R-compound.
I'd like to keep the square setup for as long as possible for cost savings and to be able to rotate them at the track.

If you are looking for weight savings, you might be disappointed here. The stock forged 666M wheels are super light, front 20x9" wheels are same weight as 18x10" EC7's (50.49 lbs vs 50.71 lbs stock wheels). I measured wheels with the tires mounted on, because that is the way how you drive lol. Rear 666M wheels are 20x10" and the weight is 54.45 lbs vs 50.49 EC7's, so roughly I saved only 8 lbs total.

Now I need to lower the front, because that wheel arch
Spacers are needed to go with MP HAS or KW HAS? What about just the lowering springs if I go with eibach? I want to stay away from spacers for my race setup, but concerned about clearance issues at the front.

P.S. I should have gotten the carbon wheel caps, but got just plain black. Is there a way to exchange those?

Thanks for the post, the car came out great!

Regarding the weight savings, 8lbs total is still significant. The OEM wheels are somewhat light at 25.3 lbs front and 27.11 lbs rear. However, when downsizing to 18" and moving to NT-01s, the tires are much heavier than the stock Michelins, at 28.19 lbs each compared to 24 lbs and 27 lbs for the OEM tires. The 18x10" ET25 EC-7 comes in at 22.45 lbs, which does help make up for the heavier tires.

Spacers will be required for certain coilover setups such as MP HAS, KW, Öhlins, etc. Spacers will not be required for lowering springs or coilovers such as MCS, our JRZ kits, Moton, etc.

As far as center caps, the carbon-look caps were discontinued a few years ago and are no longer available. All of our wheels now come standard with the gloss black center caps.

Hope this helps, let's see some track photos!

These look really great. Can you share the weights of the wheels in 19" form?

Thanks!

Finally a break in the weather, just received PPF and Ceramic Coating and able to put the wheels on. Will have to stay in the garage the next couple of days since it will be snowing.

19x9.5 et 22, and 19x11 et 44 with Michelin PS4S in 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 front/rear respectively. I am lowered on MP HAS, lower than what is BMW recommended, need to revisit and adjust.

Hi, i'm running EC7 square setup 18x10" ET25 in satin black (see post above) currently on stock ZCP suspension, however I'm about ot intall Bilstein B16 DampTronic coilovers, the same setup as in this post:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1188902

I'm trying to stay away from spacers and keep my current 18x10" ET25 wheel setup at the front, do you think they will clear the new suspension? If you check the pictures at the link above, Bilstein system looks even slimmer as compared to OEM shocks/struts. Also, how to measure properly if the clearance is enough, how much distance should there be from the tire? Thank you.

Based on the thread you linked, the dampers do indeed look slimmer. However, you can see that the lower spring perch is much lower than the OEM location, which puts the spring much closer to the tire.

With these suspensions, we typically do see that ≈5mm spacers are required in order to provide ample inner clearance.

Thanks! How much should be the clearance if I try to put them without a spacer?

Without a spacer, the tire will likely be making contact with the lower spring perch. We recommend at least 3mm of clearance between the tire and the closest point of potential contact on the suspension.

What are the chances I come into this thread with an uncommon color like Avus Blue and find the exact same wheels in the same finish on a car that's the same color. Thank you for the pictures, you're making my decision a lot easier!

How do you like the ride, handling, etc. compared to the stock 20" ZCP wheels?

I am lowered on the MP HAS, I felt the stock 20 had a better ride. I was not on the stock for very long. Just got GC camber plates installed, corner balanced and performance alignment and plan to have Alex@Alpine code in the CS EDC very soon.

I got the wheels ceramic coated, and there open simple style was very easy to clean.

Great color choice

Are you saying the car was more comfortable on the 20s than it does now on 19s? What tires and tire pressures did you have on the 19s and 20s?

Yes I am, but to clarify, I never had the 19’s on the stock suspension, so not a direct comparison. I am sure if I put the 20’s back on now, it would be worse if that makes sense?

For some reason, I’ve been on a rampant wheel search even though I have a perfectly good set of wheels.

I currently run the Titan7 forged wheels in the staggered 19 inch figment. 19x9.5et22 and 19x10.5et34 with MP4S 265/35 and 285/35 tires. They look great and perform well, but for some reason I want an 18 inch square setup with super meaty tires. My reasons are so that I can rotate the tires and have a super meaty setup for comfort/performance as well. I canyon monthly and track about 4 times a year.

What are my options in terms of 18s and having some meaty meaty tires? I’m lowered on Bilstein Damptronic coilovers.

Thanks for the post! You have many options for a square 18" setup. The tried-and-true fitment is 18x10" ET25 with 275/35-18 tires all around. This fitment is available in all of our designs, and is a direct fit on stock suspension. However it may require 5mm front spacers in order to clear your particular suspension setup. For those wishing to avoid spacers, the 18x9.5" ET22 with 265/35-18 or 275/35-18 can be used as a square setup as well.

All of our 18" designs will clear the standard F8x brakes, but the ARC-8 has extremely tight clearance and isn't recommended.

The weights of each design are listed below:
EC-7 18x10" ET25: 22.45 lbs
SM-10 18x10" ET25: 21.0 lbs
FL-5 18x10" ET25: 20.5 lbs

Additionally, we do offer a great staggered set for the F8X chassis. We recommend 18x10" ET25 up front with 275/35-18 tires, and 18x11" ET44 in the rear with 295/35-18 or 305/35-18 tires. The staggered setup is a great way to control the massive torque of the car, while the 18" wheels will give you a nice meaty tire setup.

Hope this helps!

Huge fan of apex wheels. Just jumped into an f80 after finishing my f30 build. Ran the ec-7's 18x9.5 on 245/40 square. On BC racing coilovers. Was pretty aggressive and loved the look + handling.

My f80 is YMB with CCB's. Still trying to decide whether or not to go coilovers or air ride.
Either way, what would you recommend for a similar "stance" and feel to my f30? I like to go a bit borderline insane with my specs, but my primary concern is clearing the carbon ceramics. Really liking the Yas car you guys posted with SM-10's.

Happy to help! Congrats on the new F80. Your F30 looked amazing All of our 19" wheels will clear the carbon ceramic brakes, however, our SM-10 wheels do come in our F8X specific fitments. I would recommend our 19" SM-10's in the following fitment:

Front: 19x10" ET25 with 275/30-19 tires
Rear: 19x11" ET44 with 295/30-19 or 305/30-19 tires
  • 5mm front spacers may be required for certain aftermarket suspensions that limit inner clearance.
  • Front 19x9.5" ET22 wheel can be used to avoid running spacers with certain aftermarket suspensions due to its superior inner clearance.
  • 315/25-19 rear tires may also be used, but may require rolled rear fenders and/or negative camber.
Here are a few pictures of that fitment:

Our 19" SM-10 wheels are also on sale if you are interested in grabbing a set
