Some reviewers and articles have said that the new 3 and 4 series doesn't live up to their expectations and that other brands (cadillac, lexus, ect..) offer entry level cars that compete if not outright beat their BMW counterparts.
However, I haven't heard anyone call the new 3 and 4 series bad or horrible.. In fact they have still gotten praised for their traditional qualities: handling, quality, driving feel, engine performance, ect. BMW isn't slipping, other car makers are catching up is all. BMW has dominated the entry luxury sports sector for a good while and other companies want to get their piece of the pie. The fact that the other top companies are trying to encroach on BMW's bread and butter 3 and 4 series brands indicates just how successful BMW has been over the years. Maybe the new F8x cars aren't at the top of the pyramid anymore, at least according to some, but the new Lexus, Cadi's, audi's, ect. were benchmarked against them, so obviously these cars are still considered to be among the best in their sector. //M cars have historically been quite different from their non-M brothers, so let's wait and see the new M3 and M4 actually hit the sales floor and get reviewed before we declare BMW has lost its mojo... |
