Mod friendly dealers in NYC?

I just clocked 1300 miles and I'm scheduled Thursday am for the 1200 mile M service. I have Jb4, bms intakes and downpipes coming this week. I was wondering if anyone on here has any mod friendly service advisors they can direct me to. If anyone can help pm me. It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not even remotely near the area, but I would advise talking to a reputable shop that installs aftermarket parts. They usually have a few friends who are at a dealership or better still in the service department. They can send you to someone who will happily take your car with the modifications

If you're running an actual tune (not a piggy back) the car will share a DME tamper code with BMW (which auto flags your VIN) when it's plugged into dealer diagnostics. According to my buddy who's a tech, I don't think this is reversible.

Even if you find a mod friendly dealer, I don't think they can do much on this. May still do your wear items under warranty, but if you pop the drivetrain in any way BMW NA won't auth the service with a flagged VIN.

Will I get flagged if I'm lowered and with spacers ? No other mods.
What if I got intakes? Would they flag me?
Thanks
Tom

From what I understand, no. The only time you will get an auto VIN flag is if there's DME tamper. This is because it's automatic (I'm told the DME is programmed to report if you've tampered with it). This is the value of the JB4 and other piggy-back style units. You can remove them before service.

Overall, the sense that I got was it's really judgement on part of the technician. The guys I know drive M cars themselves, and aren't unreasonable about it as long as you aren't unreasonable.

Things like suspension mods will likely mean that they won't repair/replace suspension components effected by the mods.

Things like intakes (without other intake tract parts), wheel spacers, other non-drivetrain mods, coding of the lights and other non-mechanical controllers, etc. are not likely to get a flag.

Alternatively, if you have zero mods, but are tracking the car super hard / regularly and are blowing through wear items and trying to get them replaced on warranty, that will likely get you flagged.

Side note to all - BMW NA apparently monitors sites like this, as well as track sessions. Putting the name of the guy at a dealer who has been known to look past things BMW NA doesn't allow (all mods) is a pretty stupid idea. Put the tech/SA at risk of losing there job, and also means they won't be a mod friendly dealer for long.

Other note - This information is what I've been told by techs working at dealers. It's likely that this information is the perspective of these individuals, and not of dealers as a whole. Also, it could be wrong. If it is, someone please call that out.
