Overpasses, bridges, or underpasses are really expensive. Though in Dubai they spend money for the sake of spending money, so I don't get why they wouldn't plate their overpasses, bridges, and underpasses in gold... |

Hi guys, thanks for the messages , update on situation:
Got estimated at 92,000 AED / $25,000 to repair !!!! beyond ridiculous but, i believe the main reason is for this: In the UAE if the repair estimate is more than 50% of the car insurance value then they consider it a total loss (write off) Car is insured for 175,000 AED They offered me a settlement cash offer of 137,000 AED !! I bought the car 6 months ago for 175. So I have disputed both and told them not a chance I'm accepting that, and that I want to see the full estimate and costs of exactly what they believe requires repairing/replacing, but no chance that costs that amount Only damage to back wheel is wheel itself but can be refurbed, and then upper and lower steering arm, everything else is fine. Engine fine, no chassis damage. Just suspension parts and steering parts front left, and new alloy and tire, then a 2nd hand bumper .. No chance of $25k Will update once they've replied. Cheers guys |

Man, that really sucks. Hitting the wheel on a curb is always sketchy because there is always the concern of subframe damage, lifetime alignment issues, etc. Hope it's fixed to factory specs. Important thing is that you didn't get hurt.
I am going to venture a guess that the distraction was the phone. If not then disregard the below advise. God knows I used to be guilty of looking at my phone every time I heard it beep. A couple o near misses a few years ago and that was enough for me to solve this issue permanently. I always store my phone in the passenger glovebox when driving so I have absolutely no inclination to look at and respond to texts. If it's urgent enough someone will call This has worked flawlessly last 5 years and now I get to see the world on their phones at stop lights Good luck with the repairs.

OP has courage to post about this in these forums. If I ever crash my car you all will never hear from me again.
Good luck OP! |

Guys, just waiting for full final chassis report after being on car o liner measurement, but they suspect subframe damage , if that's the case: would you guys advise it's worthwhile to replace or structurally not worth it ?
