Austria.
So, I have the european forums down but there is a chance I can talk my family into moving to Austria. The last time I was there, it was a driving heaven. Is it as I remember?

I will, though a quick look at your tax percentages might have given the spouse an ulcer. You're as bad as Finland!

Well, it's not my turn to pick the place, but damn Austria has the three main criteria down. Scenery. Distance from my mother. Language.

Well, in terms of taxes austria is a high tax country...Top3 in Europe as of 2016.
But for driving pleasure your just right...not on the autobahn, but on the country side or mountain roads you'll have fun. There are a few more speed limits nowerdays, but you just have to watch out in 30km/h or. 50km/h sections... And it has to be said...the president of austria is just a puppet... |

Our last ED trip took in a good chunk of Austria -have friends born and raised there and have to say was impressed with the country (recent political issues aside). Spectacular scenery, fantastic driving options, a breath of fresh air re speed restrictions relative to Switzerland, but of course an extreme end member comparison!! As others have said, not an inexpensive place to live but this argument can be made of just about anywhere these days and everything is a compromise - just depends on your priorities Also attractive in respect relatively close proximity to a ton of options in surrounding countries.
