The M5 rear tires are also specifically designed for 10" wide wheels. It does not mean any 295 wide tire will be an ideal fit on a 10" wide wheel.

Just as an FYI, I currently have Michelin Pilot Alpin Snow tires on my 666's in OEM sizes front and rear, the fronts scrape the inner lining if I have the wheel on three quarter lock.

I would bet his PA4's are not the proper size. I had to go to a Porsche NO PA4 on the fronts to work with my M3 but they are not on 666 rims

Correct. 295 is within specs for 10" of course, but from a look perspective it's not ideal for an M3/4. Plus most wheel manufacturers don't do 1/2 sizes so BMW probably had a choice between 10" or 11".

What is funny is the e9x had 8.5/9.5 widths on the OEM style 219M and 220m wheels. To then change it with the 356 comp wheels moving .5 inch wider on both

Hmmmm, you're not helping your credibility as a wheel sponsor here...

FYI, the F12 M6 stock rear wheels, in either 19" or 20", are both 10.5" wide. The 666M and 681M M4 GTS rear wheels are also 10.5" wide. Car manufacturers can spec wheels pretty much as they want, they have enough buying power.

Are you sure your PA4 are OEM size in front ? Because I cannot find a 265/30R20 PA4...

You sir, are correct - good catch! I took a look just now and the fronts are 275/30R20. As I recall the process of winter tire acquisition, I had, initially, spoken to the Service Advisor at my local BMW Dealer. They make such a huge thing of the fact that they "now sell tires" at the Dealer, I thought I would give her the opportunity to order my tires. Never, heard back from her. I searched for winter tires, Pirelli was already out with a 3 month backorder, if my memory serves me correctly, the only tire available at that time in the USA was the Michelin PA4 which, I believe is a designated OEM winter tire for the M4. I couldn't get any of the local tire dealers/fitment shops to order these directly, so I did, and had them shipped directly to a tire fitment shop. I do recall that it was extremely difficult to get a set that would fit the M4, so heads up here to anyone, order your winter tires way before the winter, as the weirder the size, the more likely they are to go on backorder due to low volume manufacturing. My problem was that I took delivery of my vehicle in winter......

The only "designated" winter tires for the M3/4 that I know of (star spec) are the ContiWinterContact TS830P in 255/40R18 or 255/35R19 sizes.

The 275/30R20 PA4 you have is likely the Porsche GT4 designated rear winter tire.

That's true and I stand corrected. New M5 OEM wheels are 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 275/35/20 and 285/35/20 rear.

Personally I really like the Toyo R888R if you're looking for improved traction. I'm running 305/30/19 in the rear on the stock 19" wheels. For the 666M wheels they make them in the stock tire size 285/30/20

The sponsor is absolutely correct. 295 on a 10 is a sloppy pig in terms of handling and steering feel. 285 is max for a 10." 275 is likewise a pig on a 9."

Can you fit them? Yes? Is straight line traction Better? Yes. Go drive it on track or in the canyons and you'll immediately regret it if you have any experience or training. The fact an m5 runs a 295 on a 10 doesn't mean shit. It's a big fat heavy pig that doesn't get pushed. Go drive in a super tight section with these sizes that are over what the rim widths like and you'll be puking everywhere and have lazy sidewall and steering response.

On my blown e92 I ran ran 305/30 on 10.5 and its sloppy in handling but was done for 1/2 mile. A 295 is a joke on a 10. I did this as a kid on my Second 911 and it was a pig on rollerskates. I though because the gt3 ran 235/295, I should too. Wrong. Proper wheel width to support the sidewall and not balooning is key.

How about putting 295/30 michelin’s P4S on the rear and keeping 265/30 PSS for the front? I’m thinking, in theory car should get better grip for acceleration but maintain a proper steering feel?

That looks good. Got a rear shot?

Hi, would like to know how the car handles compared to stock? Does it handle less well as others have mentioned? How is driving in the city/bumps/potholes? Any thoughts/suggestions would be helpful.
