Yes, the front knuckles. There are two bolts that clamp the strut in the knuckle, and the rumor was that they were overtightened from the factory. When installing my camber plates, I explicitly worked around not loosening/tightening those bolts, out of fear of compromising any warranty claim against those parts. They knuckles are beautiful, and not cheap.

I have a GTS and brought it in for this issue as well. They ended up replacing the water injection valve block and filter as well as the swivel bearings on my car. Are the swivel bearings the same as the knuckle mentioned above?

I'll definitely have the techs take a look at this next time I bring the car in for service.

Does anybody have a copy of the bulletin or service campaign? That always helps. Maybe it's in that other thread, I didn't look through the whole thing. Feel free to direct me.

Also is this something I can see without removing the front wheels or lifting the car?

Quoting yourself is a bit obnoxious, I know. Haha.

I brought my car in for a check earlier today since the factory warranty is about to expire (though I did just extend it). I asked them to take a look at the water injection system while looking the car over. Sure enough, it was throwing the low water pressure code. Water injection valve block is on order but the dealer isnt sure how long it will take to arrive.

The bulletin that covers the water injection block corrosion is ‘SIB 12 22 16’.

Mine seems to be drinking water at a steady pace... I mark the tank with painters tape before every drive, just to see if it changes. Sure it does. The only thing I noticed today was that I didn’t hear the pump pushing water back after I turned off the engine. The drive was slow... didn’t boost it much at all, plus the outside temp was low 40’s. I don’t know if that means anything or if it’s normal.

Still have 10 days left of the warranty, so making sure it’s not broken again. This damn thing has me all paranoid about it. Ha!

Are you near enough to your BMW dealer to have them scan the car for you?

I am, but it's never that easy... you have to setup an appointment.. and they are always overbooked. It's just a hassle. I scanned it with my tool and there aren't any codes... so it could just be in my head. I'll test it again today before noon. If I don't hear it making that gurgling noise, i'll stop by the dealer and see what they say.

I swear, with my other GTS, a year ago, i didn't care one bit... not sure why i'm so obsessed with this Water injection system in this one. I need to just chill and enjoy it. HA!

I know the water injection is disabled if the ambient temperature is below 41 degrees Fahrenheit

The water injection is working... I heard it pushing water back into the tank... and it's drinking when thirsty. So we're good to go on that part. Not going to worry about it anymore.

Let the warranty expire... I'm done being paranoid about the damn water injection system. It has the new block, it's spraying, HP is showing 500 something. I'm happy. Moving on, HA!

I need to move on too. I can't stop staring at the horsepower display cause it doesn't hit 500 very often. I need to just get over it.

I do keep track of the water with a little Post-it note stuck to the side of the tank and a pen mark after every drive though.

Ya I’ve got a new system so I assume it all works. Car is plenty fast so no worries either way. Have fun with it!

Bringing this thread back....I've definitely been concerned the water injection system seems off. I've been driving like a maniac but, it doesn't seem as if the water level drops at all. The system takes about 60 seconds to circulate after the car is turned off and im getting good numbers on the sport display.

The car seems to pull pretty well. My first track day with the car this weekend so I will see what happens then.

Have you changed/inspected the stone filter lately?

I'm going to inspect it on Friday during track prep maintenance. I just ordered the filter kit on ECS which was on sale for $29 plus shipping!

Instead of getting the tank down to dry, I drained the remaining water and topped it with fresh water then restarted monitoring - I know people say distilled water won't go bad but there must be a reason why those filters get clogged, not to mention the exp. on distilled water bottle.
Hello, I am reading that you drained the remaining water out of the reservoir. I just bought un GTS brand new with 73 km on it, and I am also thinking to replace the water inside the tank. But I tried to find out the way how to do this, and I search on the internet, seems noboday talk about it. Do you mind to let me know how you drain the distilled water ? I see there are 3 conncetors which attache the reservoir, do we need to pull them out and take out the whole tank to drain the water? thank you a lot !
