Chassis function restricted
Just had my set kW has sleeve kit installed and when we started the car a message popped up on the iDrive screen saying "chassis function restricted" and now my adaptive suspension is disabled. Can't use my M buttons either.
Anyone know what might be causing this? We double checked all the EDC plugs and cleaned them too. Everything else is installed as per instructions. |

I had the same issue - they broke something. Had to take it to BMW and they replaced the right vertical acceleration sensor. Thankfully they did it under warranty. Good luck!

just ordered 2 sensors. I'm gonna guess and just change out the rears because I did bang the bottom of the strut to get it to free up. that's the only thing I can think of for them getting damaged. don't really know how sensitive these sensors are though
the fronts I highly doubt they could break from just unclipping and removing them then reinstalling. |

mine reset itself. after installing my springs i got the same notification when i started it up to pull it off the lift. shut the car off. after searching internet for a few minutes to try and figure it out, i went back to the car and when i started it up it was gone. hasn't come back up since.

Had this happen to me with stock suspension from driving hard on the track. Second time to the dealer they found a faulty sensor finally. Would only come up at the track, so hard to test to see if they fixed it. I'll be there tomorrow to check it out.

Is it true that you have to detach the battery before installing?

swapped my left front acceleration sensor and it fixed the problem. common issue with kw has because you may forget to remove the sensor first when banging off the bracket on shock

Update from my issue.
BMW replaced both front accelerator sensors and now it's fixed. Note that he mentioned the part numbers replacing my old sensors are completely different. Hope this information helps others. |

Same thing happened to me, got in the car on Saturday afternoon after it had been sitting for a few hours
It's at the dealership now...hopefully I get it back tomorrow. I had to spend my Memorial Day weekend driving around in a 428i in this terrible midnight blue metallic (e.g. teal) |

UPDATE
So I was driving normally on a highway and all of a sudden the dreaded "Chassis Function Restricted" message pops up again!! I pulled over and turned off my car. After starting it back up everything seemed to be ok....then, 30 min later of driving this POS did it again. I was pretty choked and this time I can't even change my throttle or steering settings!! The fu*k is up with that?? These BMWs and all their garbage computers are retarded!!! I'm taking my car into dealer this Saturday so I'll keep you guys posted and hope no one else has a lemon like mine! |

OP understandably annoyed, so give him some latitude. Mine has done it 4 times on the track with completely stock suspension. They've replaced my sensor twice and my entire right front strut this last time. What's worse is that they really don't know how to fix it yet, just replacing parts for now.
