Yes! At the same time it can be a little daunting when you arrive here (Europe) and see what normal looks like. Autobahn for instance looks like a two lane country road at some places, at first I didn't even know I was on it. I was kind of expecting this three lane runway style racetrack tarmac.
If you suck at driving your butt will pucker at construction zones especially at bridges and going through big cities.

Haha I AM the risk taker/money spender. She wasn't pleased when I dropped my M3 for an R8, but she smiles nonetheless every time she gets in!

Again awesome thread here!! Surfing at the airport looks awesome.

On another note, loved reading about your trip. My 335i was an ED, but didn't have time to drive around. This time we'll be spending the week with stops in Garmisch, Lake Como (via Stelvio Pass), and Lake Konstanz. Not looking forward to the tight roads in Lake Como, but got the cameras so hoping I can get through unscathed. Can't wait!
This was in an email I just got:

Cant tell you how excited I am. Hope your group has a fun time. I both want the process to end yet would be ok with it going on forever.

What an opportunity we have, lets make sure to share our stories to help others the way stressdoc is helping us.

Agreed on all counts. I can't hardly wait and yet I want to enjoy the journey. Definitely looking forward to hearing about your experience and hope you have a great time (and I know you will).

I'm assuming you live in H-town, so maybe we can see each others cars at some point and talk about the trip.

Thanks for all the thoughtful comments! I just got back from a five day trek in the North Cascades (Copper Lake) with my brothers, who all live in the NW. What a great place for a M3! Think we passed Lups in her hornet on I-5 friday AM. I had to do something to pass the time while Independence II is in the black hole btw Southampton and Halifax.

A couple more shots that convey what interesting places you can get on airbnb, especially when you have the freedom to go to areas outside of the normal tourist range that are limited by trains & busses because you have your own BMW that can go (almost...) anywhere!

First place was in Ossuccio on Lago di Como. Four stories -- kitchen first floor, living room second/third, and bedroom third/fourth. Gorgeous view. Very modern facilities but ancient wood and stone. Perfect balcony. Charming as hell. Swimming in lake right there 50 feet from door. Amazing stone wall alleys to go through the village. Great restaurants close by. About $150/night; it could sleep four easily.

My youngest wants to go to college in Gothenburg. Next ED I want to cruise Scandinavia. Might be torture adhering to speed limits there in a M3.

Cool, maybe you should go for a Volvo on your next ED then Northern parts of Scandinavia got some stunning sceneries (mostly Norway). Have been on a Norwegian roadtrip and I've never ever in my life seen anything more breathtaking. Seeing killer whales when you're surrounded by chains of mountains and all other wildlife with reindeers/moose crossing the roads. I were lucky enough seeing a bear in the middle of the road last summer when I visited some relatives.

Enough with trying to promote Scandinavia. You sir got a fantastic looking M3 and I want to buy one as well in YMB, think that color would stand out perfectly during winter.

Really impressed with the photography in this journal. I considered ED as my wife spends a lot of time in Florence, but she convinced me I would freak out with the roads and my attachment to cars. My YMB M3 has landed in California and should be in Seattle in a week or so. Nearly as excited as when e46 and e92 M3s arrived.

Thanks! I hope to see your YMB when I'm visiting my son, brothers etc. in Seattle.

If you think Euro driving might be anxiety-proving, just stick to Germany & Austria.
Take the train to Florence.
