Do front lips increase the chance of this happening?

Not sure...but seems likely. Piss poor design from BMW putting the oil cooler there though.

Brah... you can't just slam your car and then complain that a leaf scratched your front splitter

It was one of these. Luckily no oil leak but need the engine oil cooler replaced along with gear oil cooler. Loads of other little bits too.

Yeah. I'm actually surprised that's all the damage that was done after hitting one of those things.

How fast were you going when you hit it?

I recently ran over a rolled up rug on the freeway at about 60mph. It didn't do any damage to my oil cooler, but it pushed my cf splitters into my bumper gouging it.

Crawling pace. It hit my front lip but couldn't feel it. Probably pushed it back and damaged everything or the pole went under and lifted slightly.

I know this doesn't help you after the fact but this is the reason Fall-line released the oil guard for the M3/M4.

Saved us a few times already.

I did see this (after my incident). About $700?? And that's before shipping and tax to UK....
A new oil cooler here direct from BMW is £290. The oil cooler is £80.... obviously have to add the fitting. I suppose damage could have been worse and I could have leaked oil and damaged the engine but luckily I didn't.
I'm tempted to get this but....it can't happen to me twice.....surely...
