they both look great, but this side by side imagery really solidifies that the e92 M3 is going to remain as beautiful as it was the day it came out as time passes. it is just going to be one of those cars that just doesn't stop looking beautiful. the v8 is just the cherry on top.
i do love the f8x though. i'd get an F8x M3 just to have the better efficiency and four doors. passable as "more practical" to my other half.

like the overall look of the M4... but man.. it looks like a boat next to that streamlined lithe looking e92 M3.

I don't like the interior on the F84 at all. Granted the E92 does look a bit dull bit it's better IMO. Also I'm opposite of everyone else as far as exterior goes. I like the rear on the F84 but the front/side on the E92 better.

up to this day there are those that love for the e30 and the e36 M3 design..
I can't truly understand why.. the e36 maybe .. there are cars that came out at the right time in its evolution that are memorable and truly one of a kind design and engineering that capture the enthusiasm of its day.

Damn I always thought the e92 was beautiful. As was the e46. But this f82 just takes the cake again. I wasn't sold really until I saw these. Wow. BMW steps up their game again.

even as an e92 owner, I always thought the e46 was way better looking. e46 CSL holds the crown for the best looking car BMW has ever made, but that's a unicorn here in the U.S.
my thoughts on looks with the new model here now: F80 > E46 > F82 > E90 > E92 > E30 > E36 |

I can't quite agree that the M3 E92 really looks old. Sure, we know this car now for over 7 years, especially the car enthusiasts like us, and subconsciously we feel it is "old". But if I objectively look at the design, I still consider it as quite modern and attractive. It's not because I currently have the E92 (I am willing to buy the F80/F82), I felt different when the M3 E92 came out and I really felt that my M3 E46 suddenly became old.
Maybe these comparison pics above aren't really advantageous with this color combo and light influence (at least for my taste), but especially the LCI version still looks great IMO. The only really old looking part are the yellow corona rings (but on the other side, the E92 LCI has full LED tail lights, unlike the F80/F82). |

They both look pretty boring in stock form. I think I'll like the M4 a bit more once I see some tasteful wheels and the elimination of that huge wheelgap with some aftermarket parts.
And yes, the E92 looks dated. It was never really a "looker" in the first place. |

interior of the new M3 is much nicer, but I dont like the design of those new seats. really like the new M3 and Im sure performance will be much improved but dont really care how much quicker it is, Id take the E92..mainly because of the engine. |
