Brought my tuned M3 in for service, got it back a week later, and something’s “off”
I had to bring my car in last week because my horns went out. It took them a week (!) to fix and it turned out to be the horn module.
I have a 2017 ZCP with BMS intakes and JB4 on Map. My car is definitely not right now. The blups are much quieter than before. The exhaust seems much quieter and it feels like the power could be down by about 10%. The exhaust might be the most noticeable difference. I don't know where the horns are located and what they had to remove to get to them - but does anyone have any suggestions? |

This dealership is pretty lenient. I had a tech there install my JB4 on a previous car. They also work with a few local shops and do mod's and then sell them upgraded.
They must have had the car disconnected from the battery for a while because all my settings were gone when I got it back - radio stations, lighting....everything. But I can still connect to my JB4 on my phone and change the maps and log stuff although I have no idea what any of the logs readouts mean. Regardless - the JB4 never changed the exhaust before. It's almost like it's in sport and not sport plus. I feel like the baffles are not opening all the way. |

Are you sure they did not put it on Map 0 for installing an update and forgot to put it back to Map 1? I would check asap as you are not supposed to drive around in Map 0.

They wouldn't have changed the maps on my JB4 if that's what you're referring to? I can see on my jB4 app that it's still on map 1. Map 0 is just the JB4 shutoff.

Yes. Does anyone know if there's a "concierge mode" or maintenance mode they would put it in if they had to install updates? Just got out of it again and it's definitely way quieter. Just went under a bridge and floored it in second, sounded like it was in efficient mode.

Adaptations were likely reset, and it's possible the DME software was updated with burble intensity turned down.
With all windows down, are the burbles still less pronounced even with Engine set to Sport+? Did you have ASD disabled or enabled prior to service visit? Nonetheless, your car should be more than fine, as neither exhaust note nor burbles don't have any effect on power output. If you really wanna find out if power is down, do a 4th gear log run from 2,000 rpm, upshift to 5th at 6,000 rpm, then hold the gas pedal down for another 2-3 seconds. Attached the log file here, so we can have a look at the boost levels. |

Care to share the logs? Also, re-check all JB4 connections, and check if exhaust valves are set to always closed.

Refer to the steering wheel controls here: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25401 Should be the first option when holding the [BC] button. Right Blinker = Valves closed Both Blinkers = DME controlled Left Blinker = Valves open |

Tried to get in a good pull but getting up to 120mph isn't that easy in the middle of the day around here - too much traffic. Attached it the CSV log.

If you look at the boost [target] values, it shows that it's not going over 4psi, and actual boost stays put at stock values (18 psi). It's almost like the JB4 isn't getting the correct reading, possibly the TMAP sensor got mixed up with the MAP sensor. Try doing a Map 2 or Map 5 log run later in the evening to confirm. Also re-check your wiring as previously suggested. |

If your mobile app is connected to the JB4 unit, it shouldn't read [0] for some of those fields. Fuel Open Loop (FOL) = 60 Duty Bias = 50 across the RPM range Boost Safety = 28 Follow everything else according to the default values. Make sure your iOS app is on version 2.3.8 also. |

Software update does not erase or change Jb4 settings, this only applies to flash tunes.
Most likely they put the Jb4 on map 0 in order to access the OBD.

I think all of those values in the User Adjustment Settings were erased somehow. On the app, that "Flat Boost" button is right there and easy to hit, maybe I hit that somehow? I manually entered all of those values and it feels much different I messed with the can flaps this morning and it makes it louder at idle for sure - but over-all, whatever new software update they added made it quieter. Having them open all the time isn't ideal either, I liked being able to make it quiet in efficient mode if I needed too. I tried to get three logs here but there's a lot of traffic on 95 right now. 1st is Map 1 with can flaps on OEM, second is map 2 with can flaps on OEM, 3rd is Map 2 with Can Flaps open. Sorry for the PDF's but I cant upload the CSV files. |
