Location of rear dashcam
Hi all,
I picked up an early Christmas present for myself over the weekend: a rear camera to go with my Thinkware F800 pro. The wiring was a bit of an adventure, let me tell you, but I got there in the end. I haven’t actually attached the camera to the rear window just yet because I’m curious as to where the ideal spot on the rear window would be. On the one hand, the easiest place to position it is dead center, underneath the middle brake light. However, this is directly in your line of sight when using the rearview mirror. Not sure I want to do that. One option I’m thinking is to have the camera mounted slightly toward the passenger side and slightly higher up on the back window (pic attached). I find that the view from the camera itself is not compromised. Anyway, just thought I would ask here how others have their cameras installed. Grateful for any advice! Update.
After sitting in my backseat in a chilly garage for about an hour contemplating locations, I ended up installing it pretty much as depicted in the photo above. Glad I did. Barely see it in the rear view mirror. Thanks for responding, secant. Sorry... Tangent. I meant Tangent. |

I installed my dr900s rear camera at the same location. The wide angle lens doesn't care if it's off the center by a several inches or not.
