Peeling & Sticky Residue on door handle

106k. SoCal. It's the plastic inner piece that is basically just coming up. It's very odd. It's the only interior material that shows this much wear.

You can purchase covers from Amazon. Look up inner door covers.

Or you can buy a replacent from Kies

I know you can buy the outer/face replacements or opt for carbon fiber. Good to know you can also buy the inner section as well.

Almost looks like some sort of chemical reaction. What do you use to clean them with? Any lotions on soaps on your hands? (Serious question lol)

Yup they sell them in a few colors including hydrodipped CF. It clips on very easily.

That’s the “soft touch” plastic coating failing. Combination of improper chemicals, heat, humidity, oils/lotions, and sometimes improper cleaning. Seen it on radio buttons on Audis, dash on certain Toyotas, even cell phone cases. Becomes a sticky mess and only you can do is replace it.

You guys are great. Thank you for all the responses. Honestly I don't really use any interior chemicals. Generally just a quick wipe down with wet microfiber. I fear cleaners because I used them on the steering wheel and noticed the color started to transfer onto the rags.

Same thing happened to me, I was always careful cleaning the interior and the car is always garaged but the soft material started breaking down either way.

Got the CF cover for right and left front door pulls - easy install, they look and feel good. Much easier than pulling the door panel. Thanks for the links!

I like how they simply snap into place, anyone can install these in 30 seconds. Much easier than pulling the panel, esp for those that aren't comfortable wrenching on their cars.

Common issue. Mine had it. Bought the black plastic cover off amazon for like $15. Popped it on and no one would ever know the difference.
