My 2018 M3 iDrive has experienced this iDrive reboot problem and want to see if there was/is a consensus on the issue. Thanks, |

Adding a data point:
I had a 2015 with 20k ish miles that only had the 1200 mile service and no software updates since (I specifically tell them not to touch the software) |

Exactly same happened to me after driving for a bit after computer update at the dealer. Few stops later after changing some settings such as date format and others, the instrument panel turned off and started. 2 cycles..

I have a 2018 M3 that is having the same issue so the problem is still around. I read through the whole thread but no root cause was ever mentioned. I did get a notice of a Nav update the other day and accepted it. iDrive is rebooting every 5-10 minutes. I am wondering if it is corrupted data in Nav/Medie or a screen/media/mat setting/combo that might be causing the issue.
I have noticed the media presets are resetting each time the reboot happens but have not looked for other lost configurations. Any advice to start looking for fixes/root cause? |

Go to your dealership and tell them exactly what you said, its rebooting. They will update all of your cars computers, the dme and idrive and itll be good to go. There is a service bulletin out for it.

Thanks. Not opposed to the dealer but much prefer to fix it myself if it is straightforward. I found and did the iDrive update and things seem to be better. Will take it to the dealer if it happens again.
