Over the Air map updates has stopped pushing

My 2016 F83 has the NBT-EVO with the OTA updates. The car delivered with 2015-3 and I have received updates through 2016-3. After that it stopped pushing updates. I have tried going online and changing the regions (as I found that this way you could also get multiple regions updates) but still have not seen anything push. I have called the ConnectDrive folks and they say the subscription runs through Feb of 2020 so I should be getting updates. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas how to "unclog" the updates?

Dealer tells me they will gladly charge me for the latest updates. Sounds fishy when I should be getting free ones over the air.

OTA updates never worked for me when I had my 2017 F83 M4. I had to go to the dealer although they said the new models with NBT-EVO are eligible for 3 years of free map updates through the dealer. This is in Dubai though so your mileage may vary

I was wondering the same thing. Had mine for over a year, and it updated once early on. None since then, despite new roads in the area.

From map screen, hit option button around idrive controller. Scroll to bottom and look for map version.

Its frustrating how little BWM corporate and dealers know about this. No one can tell me how to resume getting the OTA updates and a couple of folks have even told me that my car does not have OTA updates as 4 series did not get them until 2017 model year. I can tell you with 100% certainty that my car has it as I have gotten 4 updates that way.

Even the link the BMW "Genius's" sent me to get updates on are not for the NBT-EVO. When I put in my car it says this update is not compatible with my system. Geez guys.....

I've had a 2017 since last September and have never received a OTA even though it is listed as a standard feature. I have my correct region set but still get nothing! I plan to address this during my annual maintenance.

Subscribed, OP you are not alone with this problem. As usual the BMW "Genius" is no help!

The same happened to me. I took delivery of my car on the 1st Oct. 2016 and received an OTA update shortly after. Since then, nothing. I spoke to the BMW helpline etc but I didn't get it resolved. Eventually I logged into the owner portal and downloaded the latest map update onto a USB stick. All you have to do at that point is insert the stick and the car automatically detects it and offers to perform the update.

Are u out of the USA? We don't have a download option on our portal.

i wish we had that option here in the USA. If we do, i have not been able to find it on the portal. I have no problem doing it myself. Still waiting to hear back from the dealer on what needs to be done to fix this. You would think this is something they can figure out. They seem surprisingly ignorant about this.

For those working with service, here is a PDF file of STANDARD FEATURES listed for 2017 anyway. I had a strange feeling free OTA updates sounded too good to be true. Exactly why a made a copy. See attached, FREE OTA listed under "Instrumentation and controls" section. I also don't see any time limit or * listed with this feature

Spoke to service advisor today. He said there is a fix but it will take all day

I'm going to wait till my yearly service is due and get it all done at one time.

If anyone is ready to pull the trigger ask for:
