Blackvue Dashcam Hardwire without PMP or Cell-link

I don't feel the need to enable parking mode. Can I hardwire a blackvue dash cam to the fuse box in the trunk without using either the power magic pro or the cell-link battery? If I pick a fuse that "shuts off" when I turn the car off, am I still at risk of damaging my battery?

I’m not sure about the fuse option, but you could just run the power cord to the trunk and use the 12v socket. That turns off after 10 min or so after the car is shit down. That is how I’ve wired my Thinkware. Like you, wasn’t interested in parking mode.

why not just stick with the cigarette socket then ?

If it was me, and I went out of my way to hardwire to get to a switched fuse, I might as well do parking mode. If I was concerned about discharge, then I would set high cut off thresholds.

Exactly, you've done 99% of the work at that point anyway... I've been using my BlackVue DR900S-2ch with a PMP in my F82 for about a year now and it's been flawless. Just set the cutoff voltage to 12.5 Volts and a 12 hour cutoff and you'll never have any battery issues. You'll appreciate the parking mode the first time some idiot bumps your car in a parking lot.

But if you really don't want parking mode, yeah, just run the power to a source that shuts off with the car and you'll be fine. It can't pull power from a shut off source.

But does the cigarette socket shut off after 10 min or is it always on if something is plugged in?

Tap into the roof console wires as if you’re running a radar detector. The power shuts off (or shits off as another poster put it) with the ignition.

Just cut the cigarette lighter off and you'll be left with an ACC and a GROUND wire that you can then just tap into the fusebox.

Cigarette lighters under the glovebox does shut off after some time. I've had my Blackvue plugged into that for a couple of years now and no battery issues.
