Installed mine over the weekend. Seems to work perfectly and the valves react almost instantly to the remote. Thumbs Up!

what seems to be the most popular control scheme?

I was thinking...
Default -- (automatic Factory Control)
Activated -- (open)

that way, on start up, valves are closed (default factory control), and once warmed up, you'd hit the button to activate (open) the valves.

How much drain (if at all) on the battery does this unit draw when the car is off?

Same settings i used.

No drain at all since its powered directly from the valve wiring and the valves don't receive power when the car is off.

also ordered those settings. you can also open them without turning the car on so if you did want them open on a cold start

I'd probably do the opposite since I absolutely HATE the stock cold start sound. Worst thing about this car imo.

imo OP's is the best option

some people would rather have a quieter cold start for respect for their neighbors. also have the option to turn it on if I wanted to before starting.

+1. Also my wife has threatened to divorce me because of the cold starts in the morning I drive with the valves open 99% of the time. Going to close them for the cold starts and open them up afterwards

This is my setup. Works best for me...

its easier like the OP has it. You only close it one time when you start the car at the house. the rest of the time its open. I thought about the other way or oem default but what a pain it would be.

correct it does not delete cel. if you just look at the product you can tell it doesn't ----- all it does is connect to the oem valve units to open/close them. nothing to do with obd2 port.

Instead of auto and open, why are you all doing open and closed?

Doesn't cold start have the valves open?

By default, cold start is closed . . . which is why everyone says the car sounds like arse.
