Official Release: OpenFlash v2.x Off-The-Shelf Tune Files for F8x M3/M4

Well ...

It's been a LONG 2 weeks on the dyno, but we've got a lot of -well, everything- to show for it!

While some of you already have the v2 map variants, we're proud to officially announce the release our v2 F8x M3/4 Off-The-Shelf maps!

The new mapping brings some additional refinement and enhancements to our already fantastic v1.x mapping.

These maps contain additional TQ management operations, while still retaining OEM safety mechanisms: Such as CAT over-heat protections, boost control strategies, combustion temp control (fueling), and much much more. There is no reasonable need to sacrifice OEM control strategies for power --- it just ins't required!

All current customer: Please request your new v2 tune files by following this link -> https://www.openflashtablet.com/free-off-the-shelf-tune-file-request/

Allow us 1-5 days to get your request fulfilled. We've got an entire world of customers to get squared away with these new tunes!

If you have any questions, we're here to get you sorted out!

Changelog?

So this is an OTS solution. Where customizations will be additional, correct? In this V2 tune where do things like the GTS startup roar, burbles, etc fall? Is that in the category of paying more for a custom tune or are some of those things included with the V2 tune?

Looking forward to trying it out!

Or, what are said TQ management operations that are either new, different, or otherwise benefit from the new version?

Also, with regards to requesting the file, any way to have an account page with all the relevant information already populated? EG S/N, cal codes, etc? I don't really want to dig that up again and in reality, you already have all that.
All the requested info is pretty important in order for us to build a compatible tune for customers. We don't like wasting peoples time but we also want to be able to access the info quickly when it is needed. There is a lot of changes to how torque is targeting and limited with the new v2.0 tunes. It's a bit too much to get into here since it would involve going over how the ECU logic works. It's something that I would like to get into soon but it would take several long posts to do so. For now, our objective is to just build the best possible tunes for our customers. When time permits, I hope to start a tech thread explaining ECU functions and fundaments. It's pretty interesting stuff and I certainly want to do it justice

Cheers

Anthony, not sure if you remember but I need to get a link emailed to me to be able to update the template for the OFT tablet to upgrade features. I also want to upgrade the tune as mine is one you created for me a long time ago, wanted to get to stage 2 or even try some of the new maps. I texted you a couple of times, I know your busy. Thanks bud. Fotios

We posted some graphs related to our Stage 1 mapping here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3#post23583593
  • OEM MAPPING (totally stock)- 424HP 397TQ [wheel HP]
  • OpenFlash Stage 1 FULL Torque- 476HP 484TQ (+52HP +87TQ) [wheel HP]
  • OpenFlash Stage 1 FLAT Torque- 47HP 411TQ (+52HP +14TQ) [wheel HP] <- We can produce a bit more TQ if we choose, but yo loos the linearity of the flat TQ component.

We haven't released any stage 2 mapping data yet.

Hey,

Ok., I was nearly ready to pull the trigger on the OFT, but then again I've now noticed that traffic on OFT posts
has dwindled considerably.

[Edit: Not -]Tommy's gone.

B.T.W./F.Y.I.: I also noticed that your Sakhir M5, in your initial posts have "Carbahn Autoworks" LP frames...?

Ok., Here's my Build/Config. needs:

* 2017 M4 (F83) ZCP 6 Sp M.T. - Stock (BMC A.F.)
* Coded ("ASD - Off")
* Latest Firmware: F020-18-11-520
* 93~95 Ron
* +6000 Ft. elevation
* Flat Torque

Have the "throttle sensitivity issues" been resolved?

Also, I would like to request that I could get my M4's image loaded onto your (OFT) GUI's boot screen.

I will be getting a "stock" dyno run on 2/23.

So, make me enthusiastic again! How to proceed?

Cheers!

Please update us on the status of xdf files and the amount of control given to the user with these tunes. Are the maps defined and opened to end users yet? Are the patch functions usable? Are all of the logging channels working?

Hi - just wanted to clarify - I’m not gone. I’m actually still using OFT but I’m running a stock map with just cold start disabled and rev matching enabled in sport +. I realized that I don’t really need more power out of my car...but after reading this update I think I might give it a try just for the hell of it. What I didn’t like about the precious maps were throttle sensitivity and the fact that my oem burbles were severely affected - did not sound OEM anymore, which was a deal breaker for me.

At the same time I wanted to say that Anthony has indeed been very responsive. We’ve had some hickups in the beginning but now every time I hit him up he responds.

+1 the flat torque map and driveability is perfect for this chassis, having the burble work as per oe zcp is only issue for me

My car is currently on stock quickflash map til I have the time to continue working on solutions with OF

Ah ha other elevation S55 owner. I am curious to see your pre and post flash dyno results; my guess is that on 91 or 93 fuel the power gains above 5500rpm will be almost zero. This isn't a slight against OpenFlash but from what I've seen the S55 with stock turbos behaves a lot like the R35 GT-R VR38DETT with stock turbos - easy to make big mid-range gains but the little turbos won't hold the power in the higher RPMs in thin air.
