I really, really would be pleased to own a new M3, stick, either white or silver.
I think they nailed it on this car.

One of the only BMW's I'd own in complete base model trim, and not feel like I was missing out. HID's, power heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, NAV, carbon roof, the best looking 18's out there (I really don't mind them but they need spacers :-) Good work BMW. In my book this is good enough that I'm willing to cut my fuel economy by 1/3 and raise my monthly by 1/3... In a few years. |

I've never heard a video that really accurately reproduces a car exhaust sound. Engines produce sounds in frequencies that are difficult (for microphones) to record, and difficult (for speakers) to reproduce. You can get close, but it's hard to get exactly right. I listened to countless videos of the S65 exhaust before getting my M3. Nothing sounds quite like the actual car though.
Because of that, I'm waiting to hear it in person before passing judgement. I know that a turbo I6 can sound good. There used to be a guy that frequented our local car meets who drove an RB26DETT powered S14. Yeah, I know cliché as hell, but the car sounded incredible. I'm sure that even if the S55 sound isn't great from the factory, the aftermarket will fix that.

+1.. I was thinking the very same thing!
@Gonven I hope you get your car soon. On a side note... I wonder where this was filmed? Its clearly somewhere in Austria. My guess would be Gross Glockner Pass.

Being of Austrian decent, I have driven the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße on quite a few occasions and those views on the video don't ring any bells , so I am not convinced it was filmed there.

Not Austria, but Italy.
If that location is correct, that would be in Südtirol Italy (although Südtirol was part of Austria before WWI) Last edited by CanAutM3; 06-18-2014 at 06:49 AM.. |
