Not too sure of which piece you are exactly speaking of, but there should be no rattle what so ever. Bring it into the dealer, or call the guy you bought it from. Usually they would recommend you going in.

The only annoying thing I get from the seats is when my kids poke me through the seat-back holes...BTW that can get SUPER annoying, likely the only thing I don't like about the seats |

I've got non comp seats and the driver seat squeaks on certain days. Not sure if it's temp related or not. My door seals have been lubed and they make so much racket it usually drowns out the seat squeak.

not for me.... no squeak or rattle, just the rumble of the engine and exhaust
Oh, I have ~4000 miles on the clock.

The long plastic insert on the back of the seat back. Almost not snapped in tight or something.

Big yes here
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem You are spot on, the plastic welded in Centre strip flexs and makes a plastic clicking noise whenever I accelerate and push back into the seat Doesn't happen on my passenger seat, so I think this is just a random issue, and exists bcoz the holes put too much stress on the plastic welds I'm trying to solve it atm, I wedged some credit cards bw the seat back and leather to make the seatback a tighter fit and it seems to work I'd hate to remove the whole seat back, and wouldn't trust bmw to do this, I might have to spring for a new seat back, reinforce it with some focal bam and get a trimmer to do the swap Last edited by domino_z; 02-25-2017 at 12:39 AM.. |

U have the same issue but on my right side of the drivers seat and its driving me crazy...
I think the middle of the side support is rubbing against the center console, so each time I make a turn to the left the squaking starts... I will try to put some cloth between and see if that helps... but this car is turning into a squeek fest.. my car is a M4 15 with 30.000 km My seats are non ZCP full leather btw. |

Mine does make that sound as well.

But I'm not too sure whether the sound is coming from the side or the middle plastic parts. It drives me nut every time i drive... I did took it into the dealership and they sprayed the middle plastic parts and the sound was immediately gone. But you know what? that ticking noise came back within a week. Does that credit card trick works on you? Please lmk with any updates. Thanks. |

yeh it does when you consider how the seat back is put together
it is essentially 2 pieces, the centre piece is plastic welded in wedging something between the seat backs and leather seems to press both outer pieces in towards the centre you could buy something similar to a credit in black, thinking maybe the squeegee vinyl wrap installers use, cut them down to size so they don't stick out, and place several all around the seat back or you could just buy a new seatback, and reinforce the plastic welds using some metal clips on the inside so it doesn't flex |

This might be a better solution than having to use a CC or swap seat backs. I've used it before on previous automobiles to similar squeeks and rattles. It's inexpensive, you won't even notice it and it's available at your local Home Depot. Low Density Foam Tape

2017 Competition Pack Seats Making Ticking Sound
I know there are several posts about this issue but i'm going to post it again anyway.
In my opinion, this is big issue for such a car worth $80K+ making this kind of stupid noises. Even my old 2015 ford fusion did not make any noises like this. Basically, It's the center console plastic trim area (back seats) that is making this ticking sounds whenever I accelerate + going over uneven pavements. So basically ticking sound exists 24/7 & ringing behind my ears. This drives me nuts!! I don't even wanna drive the car anymore because of this noises.. its that bad.. I took the car into the dealership 2 weeks ago because of this issue and i found out they sprayed something on that specific plastic trim area, probably DW-40, (both driver & passenger back seats) and the ticking noise was gone 100% and started to come back within the day or two and now it's 9999999% back again and i think it got worse. That noise immediately goes away when i put my hands around that center console and apply some pressure. Anyway, I'm going back there this Saturday to fix this issue and plus of course the door rattling sound.. JESUS CHRIST!! and i'll see what happens. I will keep you guys posted if i get any updates. Please advise me if anyone of you have experienced similar issue and knows the solution to kill the stupid noises. Thanks! |

Ok after playing around with some diy fixes, I've finally got it sorted
I ended up using foam insulation tape, cut it thin and ran it along the channel between the Centre strip and outer seat back part Going to have to re apply it a bit cleaner for a permanent install I still can't believe this is what's required on a car like this, and just like the creaky door rubber/black trim, Hans didn't pick this up during r&d |
