For all those wanting full screen apple carplay...

i just came across this on fb,

we finally got google earth, but bmw only formatted it to fill 2/3 of the screen

now it looks like we can have it full screen, coded via usb stick too

It's only compatible with N and O software versions

Unfortunately I have H, maybe because I have factory carplay

Anyone try it yet? Can you toggle between full screen and split, after the change?

Is this something that is native to the bmw software or a hack?

It's compatible with every version. Only difference is some versions can be updated via USB and some versions can only updated remotely.
Initially I thought the CarPlay widescreen patch was only for idrive firmware versions o-n. So your saying you can patch any versions?

What method is required for verison J ?

How are these guys enabling apple CarPlay to 2018 cars? I was told by Bmw it cannot be done (not that I believe BMW).

at least on my iStep I have always seen the CARPLAY_FULLSCREEN parameter in CAFD and have toggled it with no success. I'm guessing BMW does allow it maybe during testing and somehow these guys have figured out the magic combination to get that working.

Actually, never mind it looks like they are patching FSC cert to accomplish this.

It's possible. Activated FullScreen Carplay just last week with "P" firmware.

The dealer updated my firmware to nbtevo_p for free and I got a patch from Nelson. It worked like a charm 😇
