OK, GC sent me new bearings for free under warranty. I’ll give them credit for that.

Dropped the strut, removed the strut top bearing carrier, cleaned everything out and installed new bearings. The issue was definitely my old bearings as I couldn’t turn them by hand once removed, they had seized up.

I greased all contact surfaces and sides of bearings this time. I also zip tied the rubber boot to the bottom of the shock to ‘seal’ it better from the elements. I also put my OEM springs back on (was lowered on Eibach Euro V2s).

I will report back in a few months if noise returns.

Mine were noisy turning the steering wheel. Didn't hear them otherwise.
