Anyway, it does not matter if the CSiC brakes are $8k or $5k there are not worth it.
I can wait the considerable amount of time for BMW to try another revision of iDrive, put LED tail lights on the car, and otherwise finish it.

If you buy a Miata you have two problems: you need brakes for your BMW and you have a Miata.

Not that this was a surprise but i emailed Stop Tech about whether E9X BBK would fit on F8X.

i guess it's way too soon considering the M isn't even out yet

stock brakes is not an option imho... a quartz Timex is much more accurate than an Omega Speedmaster... but who cares about that

Spend enough time at the track and you'll respect drivers instead of what they're driving.

Start wheel to wheel racing and you lose interest in bickering about $8K priss street brakes...promise.

I cannot say I've had the pleasure of open wheel racing. Honestly I'm ready to just buy an RS7 for $99,000 invoice, tune it to 720 HP and 740 ft/lb with stage 1 software, and never mod it again. Even my lady would be able to drive it.

With no modding and my free time I'd just go to Skip Barber 8 days a year and learn how to race for real.

I've been following this thread closely - it's been very amusing. The question is how far you can go before everyone realizes they are being trolled by an expert.

Most of us are WAY past that point.

I drove M5 with iron vs M6GC with CCB at COTA last year. I was blown away by the CCB. A bit of an unfair comparison as the M5 iron brakes were quite used with shimmy and grind. Nonetheless, I left the track having a hard time imagining not getting CCBs on the next M car. Agree with everyone that they make limited sense for heavy track use long term, but as a DD/HPDE car, I say go for them

It will be interesting to see how this latest gen of CCB (Porsche and BMW) hold up against track use.

CCB Overview

Just saw this is the current issue of R&T. Nothing terribly new in here but worth a quick read for those less familiar.

What would the Calipers look like if you don't get the Ceramic Brake option?

Like the current M-Performance calipers that are available on the F30/32. They come in blue, but are also available in red, orange and yellow.

..and here are the other colors:

Have a look in this thread. The YMB M3 from the Detroit car show has the blue calipers with iron rotors.

So true, but the forums are all about gear, but almost no one actually takes that gear on the track where you could potentially use it to it's ability. I say potentially use it, because 99% of the people here won't be able to maximize even the stock system. But they sure LOVE to mental masturbate all about that it's capable of.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Agreed!

P.S. "Mental Masturbate" is the perfect description. I believe you've coined a new term there aus.

All true points. That said, while I make it to the track once a quarter and have done for the last 10 years, I will say that many people like things to be as over engineered as possible. For me that doesn't extend to CCB brakes but it does mean I like my SUVs to be able to climb mountains and my sedans to be able to hang with Carreras even if I'll only test this a handful of times per year.

I'd say the issue I don't understand is the addiction to lowering cars so they have terrible clearance, slapping on limo tint, 20s etc but to each their own.

Not sure if this is covered here and is something I only found out after buying my M5 (no CCB) but FYI CCB are not covered under BMW maintenance program. I would have been all about them if so. Maybe everyone already knew that but in case there's anyone else out there like me!

How exactly do you go about ordering the other colors of calipers ? I don't see an option.

Or is this BMW individual ??

They are now.. Check the new policy/fine print of the maintenance program. There's another thread here about it, but they definitely ARE COVERED now.

You can order the calipers from Tischer or any of the other dealers that sell the M-Performance parts. The F8X will only come with the blue calipers. You'll have the source the other colors from a dealership. You could then just sell your blue calipers on the forum.
