Stock brake pad life? 20k mike replacement?

Hey guys,

I just noticed that only after 20k miles / 2 years, my idrive system is saying I need to do a front and rear brake service in the next 1400 miles.

Just wondering if this is the expected pad life of stock pads with no track use.

Go look at the pads. The computer isn’t reading actual wear, the brake pad sensor can only be tripped or not, it’s Boolean.

Are you sure its telling you that the pads are low and not brake fluid service is needed? Brake fluid service is every 2 years in idrive.

But if it is indeed the pads, then yes 20k miles with no track driving would be extraordinarily early.

Way too early for you to need brake pads. I have 52k miles on my original brake pads with no track days but a lot of spirited driving to say the least. I am in the process of changing them but there's still life left on my current pads though I do feel I have to press the brake pedal further now to engage(Hence why I am changing them).

That'll be a brakefluid service. With no track driving, I can't imagine your brakes are already eaten up.

Agree with everyone else, I'm at almost 50K on factory pads/rotors and no warning.

Thanks guys. It must be the brake bleeding/fluid change procedure then.
