Euro delivery, proven reliabilty are huge pluses in my book. The most important proof is the f8x doesnt have overheat or durability concerns on track.

Those put me in the m3 camp. If i was shopping today i would skip them all and get a 718 cayman s for euro delivery

To add to the pile-on...I was somewhat excited about the Alfa as a possible next car (having just picked up my F80, I have a few years to assess Alfa reliability). I was under the impression that the MT would be available in the US. However, a trusted source who has one on order (set to be delivered next month!) says auto only. Well, I guess that simplifies things.

I was 100% going to get the Alfa for a change of pace after my lease was up, but without a manual, it's a complete no-go. Cayman/Boxter isn't an option because I need a back seat and a 911 just isn't sufficient value/money for me.

1st world problems.

I was really thinking about the Alfa, when I got my 16 M3, but it too to long to get here. Made me wonder about reliability. But after sitting in one at the LA Auto show, today. I am happy I went with the F80. For me there is far less headroom, less back seat room, and because I seem to be sitting higher in the car the rear view mirror and it's housing seem to block up a lot of the windshield. Looks better in person than the photos.

Both the F80 ZCP and the Guilia Q are on my list. Although, I'm waiting for my Alfa dealer to have one that I can see IRL before making any decisions.

As of right now, I'm a little torn because I love what Alfa is bringing to the table with performance, sound, and style. It's also stands to be a decent value for the content offered if the alleged price point holds.

The other side of the coin is that BMW has a known track record (although I had an early E90 335i and all the joys that came with that), a broader color palette, and likely more aftermarket support.

Not sure where I'll end up, but it's a great thing that we have choices like this to make!

Considering Stelvio QV. Better looking vehicle than the Guilia and better suited to cold New England Winters.

The sound is nice, the power is nice, but it's a little too fugly for my taste. particularly the front end from face-on.

Just watched the Motor Trend Quick Drive with Carlos Lagos and Jonny Leibermann. They seemed to adore it. I'm guessing it'll win the upcoming ATS-V/M3/C63/Giulia comparison test.

They basically said it matched what's best in all the other cars. The chassis of the ATS-V, the engine of the C63 and the interior space and layout of the M3.

I saw a few of these at auto shows, exterior is just ok and interior is pure garbage compared to modern tech. At first glance I would pay no more than $40K for it.

Everybody must be going with the wait-and-see attitude. Alfa sold a whopping 29 Giulias in the US its first month on sale. Not 29-thousand. Not 29-hundred. 29 units. And that's all trim levels, not just the QV.

That's probably all they shipped. I can tell you there were none for sale in the Chicago area. We just got our first one about a week ago.

I think German cars reliability is overrated and it goes for Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz... If you want reliability in a performance luxury sedan, get a Lexus. C&D have had plenty of issues with their long term M3: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...wrap-up-review

A couple of videos from US reviews that are telling how good the car is:

While reliability has never been a European metric they've been good at, the marques you've listed also were never run out of the US for producing such unreliable garbage that their business model imploded (Ok, Audi almost was too ). I would never buy the first model year, of the first returning US Alfa....YMMV.

I don't like the front of the car, but it is very interesting and thought provoking. Glad to see that BMW now has some real competition.

I don't think you can compare car companies from 20 years ago and what they are now... I agree that it's a risk buying a 1st year car from any brand, but also from a brand that has not been in the US for years. But on the other hand maybe these cars companies trying to get back to the US will make sure that their product are at least their after sales are as good as they can be.

About the Alfa, like many modern cars, you have to see it "live" to really judge how it looks. I've seen it last July in Italy and I can say I was very impressed. The overall shape may be similar to the BMW (and C63), but the detailing is less "fussy" without 2 or 3 unnecessary character lines, and more elegant in my eyes. The Alfa triangular "shield" nose does look way better in real life too... Overall it looks fantastic in my eyes... The interior is not as "solid" feeling as the Germans, but easily on par with Jaguars. I do like the design of the interior of the Alfa better than the German cars that tend to be overcomplicated. The second video from my previous post gives a good analysis of that interior...

Porsche reliability is 2nd neck and neck with Lexus. The other German brands better than industry average and close to Honda and Acura.
