Fresh paint / road trip advice
Hey buds –
My car is emerging from paint right around July 9. I'm then going for a California road trip around August 5. This does not give me enough time for the fresh paint to offgas and PPF the front end of the car. So, what do you all recommend to take care of my fresh paint and protect it from rock chips, etc...? Thanks! ~David

From what i gather it will be more or less full hardness after a week, i think the bigger concern is *sealing* the paint or PPFing before it's all offgassed.

I would just get a clear contractors bag and use that as a poor mans ppf. Tape it to secure it to the bumper where it needs it. I've taped the entire bumper before on my last car and it took forever plus when I removed it I had a lot of goo still stuck to the paint.

Thanks a lot for the input y'all.
I have a feeling that i'll end up going with painters tape on the trip down. Too bad 3M doesn't sell "psychedelic snow camo" rolls, because I could really go hog wild with that

Lol. I scoured the webz looking for that as a wrap a while back. Not really available off the shelf. Would look crazy cool!

I’ve had my body shop PPF freshly painted parts days after it’s done.

Double bake the paint. Wait two weeks and PPF. My turned out fine. I would rather replace a section of PPF do to installing to soon than chip up new paint.

It is, and it works. Just be sure to follow the directions for application. The thicker the coat, the easier to remove. The most annoying thing is if you go too thin, it'll come off in a thousand tiny pieces -- which ain't fun.

That's plenty of time to get PPF afterwards, not sure why anyone think it takes 4+ weeks. If you want added peace of mind park it in the sun half the days
