I'm lowered on H&R Sport Springs and I only scrape on my terribly angled Los Angeles driveway. I've worn out the rubber flaps but never scraped the actual bumper.

Both...
Looks like shit without being lowered, but lowering brings with it a host of issues...not the least of which having to analyze every driveway with a microscope before entry.

I've had lowered cars for the last 30 years.
I no longer want a lowered car for street use. it reduce travel available and a PITA driving in unfamiliar roads. on an F80 platform I think the cons outweights the pros. my m3 is stock and I've destroyed the black plastic flaps already. when I do suspension down the road it'll be at stock height. those 'raise front end 2 inches' features on the newer supercars are badass. someone needs to come up with an aftermarket kit. |

I stressed about this a LOT before doing it and I definitely do not regret going lower. But I think it depends heavily on your specific commute/frequently traveled route(s). I'm lowered ~1.1" in the front and really haven't had any issues at all with scraping on my daily commute (or anywhere else for that matter). Admittedly, I am being a little more cautious than I was previously.

Swift Springs + ZCP EDC coding ! Perfect ride height and very compliant for daily use. Car feels planted during my limited time tracking and autocrossing last year.

I have always lowered my rides bc I think it looks better. I can tell you that at times its a hassle but after years of always having lowered cars you adapt and get use to it and just take your time and your angles. I have no issues. Now if you slam your car then yes it will be an issue. I always go with modest drops. I also have lived in a very small town with pristine roads for the last 12 years which makes a big difference also.
side note i got a new M4 last week and am driving it stock till this friday and I feel like im driving a 4x4 lol

It's more pain the ass but it does look great. With my 2016 I was on Eibachs and very happy with the ride but it did scrape the front M Performance lip from time to time if I wasn't careful or didn't slow down enough for some dips.
For my 2017 ZCP I said forget it and have stayed stock. The ride is stiffer than even with the Eibachs but it feels razor sharp vs the Non ZCP so there is no reason for me to mess up a good thing. The 1" drop just wasn't worth it and I say that as someone who was offered free springs and labor from Eibach to test fit their v2 springs. |

Both but definitely more on the pain in the ass part.
My area has a lot of steep up ramps, it is a huge annoyance for me and I'm not lowered all the way either. I'm glad I have my M Perf lip since I can really just scrape it and not worry about it. Been thinking about Ohlins lately but I probably won't do it.

imo, every car needs to be lowered to have a nice stance. depending on the roads u travel, i.e., big dips, steep driveway, speed bumps, etc, will determine how low u can go. I would recommend coilovers as u can control the height u want. springs height is fixed so be careful which brand u get

Tough decisions.
I'm thinking about lowering my car with the H&R SS. With this front lip I'm having trouble getting in and out of my driveway (no scrap but barely) and certain areas around town already. That front tire gap bothers me but love that front lip. |

The super sports are one of the lowest kits you can buy. If you are already having difficulty then you will 100% be in for a world of hurt with these springs.

Yes. Was researching the difference for that H&R kit, roughly 1.5 inches lower. And the front lip installed adds about the same. Will more than likely stay stock height until I find a front lip that I like with better clearance. Much appreciated...Thank you! |

Depends how low you go....
I did MP HAS and the drop is 25mm front and about 8mm rear, no issues, suspension feels the same harshness (I have CP) and the car is definitely more planted and looks better too..... Modifying the suspention too much can interfere with handling dynamics but if you do an 'approved' drop, something thouroughly researched, then there shoud be no issues... |

BAD ASS, and it's not even close. Lowering the car makes the machine, it's a must do!!
Here's mine, wouldn't have it any other way. ZERO rubs ever, it's perfect! |

Lowering creates the best stance for this car. I've had Swift Springs in the past, perfect height and no issues scraping. Went over 95% of humps completely straight.
I now have KW V3s and they are set at about the same height as the Swifts were. Maybe 1/4 inch higher. Rides WAY better than the Swifts. You just need the right settings. It changed the way my car drives. Plus the V3s are now not really that expensive depending on who you purchase them from. Really a great value
