F80 M3 - 20x9.5 up front. 20x10.5 in rear
Hello folks!
While searching for a new set of light sport 20" wheels for my M3 F80, I've come to a set with sizes 20x9.5 ET22 and 20x10.5 ET35. I've read numerous threads but haven't found a definite answer to my question. Plenty of M3/M4 guys are running a 9.5/11 setup with 265/30 and 295/30 which is perfect for the 11, but I just don't like the stretched look of the fronts, and I would like some added layer of protection for the wheels. Furthermore, I'm not really sure would the 295 on a 10.5 rim be too bulky. Also, the setup would be very close to the factory setup and tolerance, +1.9%, so there should be no problems regarding ECU intervention and higher speeds. The question is can a 20x9.5 ET22 and 20x10.5 ET35 setup run a KW HAS drop, 275/30/20, and 295/30/20 Michelin PS4S without rubbing or major problems? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! |

g540i 275/30/20, 295/30/20 can in general be accomplished, however almost always will create some amount of rubbing on fender liners in the front, which depending on preferences and affinity for the liners should be considered. 265/30/20 is generally our recommendation on the f80 specifically (f82 a bit more freedom). One can massage fender liners with heat gun to massage to encourage less interference, or one can also consider the liners "sacrificial". The 275, 295 will have approximately the same "stretch" (or lack there of in this case), maybe a bit "fatter" in the rear, but proportionally fairly equal, and given goal of added protection, likely satisfies that need!

Thanks! What ET are you having upfront? Is the wheel or the tire hitting the shock? |
