Can you purchase an X5 key and have it programmed to an F80? I am not that concerned about the physical key being cut.

The X5 key has some weight to it as well. Feels nice.

Agreed. The F80 keyfob feels cheapo in one's hand.
I actually needed to buy the M CF keyring (small SQ one - I find more attractive then the longer rectangle one) to attach to the FOB to keep me from dropping it, weightless and slippery are a bad combo, for fearing I'll break it.

Yeah, that is totally lame. Maybe you could wear it on a chain around your neck, or make it into a belt buckle WWF style?

My wife has a '14 X5 w/ the M-Sport package so she has that nice key shown in this thread. It's a tad taller than our F80/82 key, but it's thinner, has a lot more weight to it, and just feels a lot nicer in the hand or pocket. I was pretty disappointed the first time I picked up the light, hollow and cheap feeling (and also oddly fat) F80 key after handling the X5 one.

This looks made for the F3X guys with performance packages and not for the F8X.
The key fob is already too big, I will not be adding to its bulk. But, I would be willing to trade it in for the new X5M or i8 fob! |
