2017 M3 Ordered! Port Installed Options Guidance Please

Hi All!

Long story short...I had a 2011 Alpine White M3 Sedan that I sold along with a few other personal possessions as a result of a divorce so that I could hold onto the house so that my daughter could go to top public schools.

Fast forward a few year and I'm done with spousal support and it's time to get back into an M3!

Here is the order I've placed:

I'm so excited to be getting back into an M3 in September/October!

I'm going for the most aggressive look possible. Right now my order includes the "Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps". I will be adding the "Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser".

Couple questions I'm looking for answers to:
  1. The 2017 list of port installed options shows a "Rear Deck Spoiler-black", but not a carbon fiber version. Does anyone know if the carbon fiber version was retired for 2017? Does anyone have the black? Just want to make sure that if I go with the black that it doesn't conflict with the other carbon fiber elements.
  2. My dealer is not aware of a front splitter and lower lip option available in the list of port installed options. Does anyone know if this was also retired or maybe someone has the 2017 part number that I can give them?

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

Bobby

The reason the CF spoiler isnt showing up is because supply is so low its not available for port install right now.

No idea on the splitters, I'd call the genius and ask them.

Thank you Leaveit2bevo!

I was at the dealership yesterday and they added the "CF Frnt Attachment w/ Aero Kit" to my build. They assured me this includes both the front splitters with lower lip. So good progress there!

Good to know on CF Spoiler. They are going to re-check availability in late August before my card arrives at the port.

I went with the carbon ceramic breaks for three reasons:
- A higher performing breaking system.
- They look great.
- No break dust for a super clean look, even a couple days after a wash.

Glad you ordered your new M3!! Congrats...but be careful with the carbon ceramics...may want to re-think it

1. They only are a great braking system when they are up to temperature..AKA the track...they will work ok on street but have a VERY different feel than standard iron rotors

2. they squeak like a MFer!!

3. lots of dustless pad options out there for a couple hundred bucks versus $8k!

What dustless pad options specifically? $200 per rotor or total? I'm staying with standard brakes...

You're not going to achieve any of those goals on the street. Maybe the low dust, but that's not even a given depending on how cold you run them.

You'd be much better off getting some ceramic pads if dust is your primary concern. The only performance benefit vs. iron brakes is the ability to avoid fade due to heat soaking of the iron rotors and extended pad life under racing conditions. This will never be an issue on the street, and frankly, isn't even an issue on track unless you're actually racing. Proper brake ducts would make a world of difference in regardless.

Save that $8k for your daughter's future educational needs...

Just google bmw dustless pads....$200 or close to that should get you all 4 corners. Way better investment than CCBs.

Hi all, while I totally appreciate everyone's input and the caution on why to maybe pass on the carbon ceramic breaks, my car is already in production with them. I went back and forth on whether or not to get them over the past 6 months. After reading through all the threads on this forum weighing the positives and negatives, I ultimately decided to pull the trigger on them. I'm looking forward to my car arriving in September!
