2015 M3 - Advice Appreciated

What does the collective wisdom and experience on this thread think of the following listing for preowned, 2015 M3? Details below.

Dealer claims depreciation schedule is quote "slower" on M3s, plus 3M protection keeps price fairly high for a 2015 model. Car has been on sale since May.

MSRP $78,440. Asking $66,654.

** No Elite or Standard CPO coverage though extended Maintenance Protection for Year 5 / 25k miles through 07/2020. ** One owner.

14,000 miles
BLACK Sapphire Metallic / Bl Extended Merino Leather
Executive Package
M DCT
Driver Assistance Plus
Lighting Package
Adaptive M Suspension
19" Black Wheel 437 M Mix Tires
HK Sound
3M protection

Thanks in advance.

Of course the dealer claims that, as it benefits his position, but it's not true. Ddepreciation is what it is, and that car is about $6k too high.

Without a CPO warranty, they are 10% too high...at least.

I agree with the two comments above. Low 60k would be what I would pay for this car.

Question: Is this a BMW dealer? Ask him why isn't he able to certify the car as CPO?

It is a BMW dealer in the mid-Atlantic. They are exploring certifying. In any event, at this price level with moderate number of options but no CPO, it's not a surprise vehicle is still on sale after 12 weeks. There are several equally or better optioned 2015 M3s with CPO that are listed at BMW USA site in the mid-$60k range.

2017 models will be in showrooms in few weeks so presumably they will start discounting.

What does it mean to explore certifying? I though it was binary. I remember looking at a used e93, and my dealership refused to certify the car as it was on track duty, and they were upfront about it.

It means the dealer will come up with a "fee" for certifying, and then increase the price even more since it's now certified AND charge the fee.

I'd run from this stealership.

Vehicle's MP or maintenance plan which was extended to 5yrs / 75,000 miles.

To give you an idea there is another dealer in the mid atlantic that has a 2015 M4 with only 7000 miles and IS CPO Elite and that car has been sitting since early May. They dropped the price to $64k a few weeks ago and its still sitting. Nice car with good options but is a stick so that may limit some people. I drove the car back in March and thought it was too expensive then. I am thinking about offering around $58k and see what happens but I keep coming back to a new ZCP order car....grrrrrr

As stated, sounds high.

Would KBB.COM give us a good guestimate on the pricing or are we going by Manhiem-type resale valuation?

Just running this one through KBB.COM for sale to private party is $68k for Excellent. $63k for Very Good. Trade in to dealer was $60k.
