Dash Cam and M3 battery
For those of you who have installed a dashcam in your f80/f82, did you install a separate battery to power the dashcam? I heard the F80 batteries are expensive and want to know if the dashcam is okay to use in the f80s without a second battery.
Curious, because the dashcams are constantly recording even when the car is off, wanted to know impact to the f80 battery.

No secondary battery, but rather a cutoff for when the car battery drains to a certain point
I'm at work now so can't post YouTube links, but if you click in my signature and navigate to my dashcam install video you'll see how I did it. super easy |

I run a 2 channel dash cam connected to a multisafer. The multisafer connects directly to the battery and shuts off the camera after a) a certain time period or b) when the battery drains to a certain point.
I had it connected running for 12 hour increments just fine for over a year. Lately it sounds like the car struggling a little bit upon startup and I got a battery drain error message. Since I don't want to spend $300 for the cellink b, I just disconnect the power from my dashcam when parked in my garage and leave it running when I'm out. |
