Hello all,

So I'm in debate and wanted to hear your opinion, m3 comp vs m4 comp convertible.

What's your opinion about those two?

Do you need 4 doors? If not, then option b. If you need 4 doors, then option A

Are you keeping the X5M?

Do you have kids? Plan on getting a winter vehicle (location says Philly) if you get rid of the X5?

If you don't need the 4 doors, then the M4 is my pick. But these cars, even when equipped with winter tires, aren't as great as a true AWD or 4x4 vehicle. Particularly if you get a big storm and lack the clearance. But you'll get around. I drove my previous F80 on Nokians with no problem, except when we got over a foot over night. Damn thing got stuck in front of my house haha

Thanks for the input much appreciated!
No kids for now, but planning in the near future, we just picked up another x5 f15 so even without the x5m still will have an suv

Can't say for sure, but i assume the M3 will have slightly better handling, as the vert has a higher center of gravity (with top up)? I'll defer to the experts on this forum

Either way, can't go wrong. Just make sure it's a manual gearbox...kidding!

My wife has an F15 X5 and I have the M4 Convertible with the competition pack and M Performance exhaust.

while the convertible might be 250kgs heavier, the car has so much power that it doesn't matter. Nothing beats the fun of putting the top down and hearing that awesome exhaust even better also, when I want to put large items, it's easier to do so with the top down

check my car's review here:

My pleasure, feel free to ask if you have any more questions and remember, the next gen M4 is going to be soft top, soft tops look worse and are super hard to maintain and keep clean and are not as safe so grab the opportunity to get the hard top when you can. When it's hot, put the top up and its very similar to the coupe. also with the convertible, even if you go with the competition package, you still get the adjustable lumbar support whereas with the coupe there is lumbar support but not adjustable.

Finally, with the top down, since the weight is shifted towards the rear end more, you have more grip and better power delivery / grip when accelerating hard from a standstill. No One ever thought of that but think of it, more weight at the read = more grip = better acceleration despite that it's a bit heavier. whatever you do though, go with the competition package.

these are the competition package full list of upgrades:

- Power output: 444 HP (output increase of +19 HP)
0-60 DCT: 3.8 seconds (sedan/coupe), 4.1 seconds (convertible)
- M Sports exhaust system with black chrome exhaust tailpipes
- Tuned Adaptive M Suspension (SA 2VF) with new settings
- New Springs
- New Dampers
- New Anti-Roll Bars
- Reconfigured driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+)
- New Settings for DSC / Active M Differential
- Exclusive 20" M light allow wheels Star-spoke style 666M Forged, machine-polished, weight-and rigidity-optimized, multi-spoke wheels (front 9J ×20; rear10 J ×20) Mixed tires sizes (front: 265/30 R20, rear: 285/30 R20)
- M Seats with break-through elements in seat back (Coupe/Sedan only); deletion of lumbar support
- Seatbelts with woven-in BMW M stripes (Coupe/Sedan only)
- BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line with extended content: kidney frame, grill, rear model designation in Black high-gloss, including regular SA760 content

$5500 for sedan/coupe, $5000 for convertible

====================================
Eibach measured the spring rates, the CP springs do have higher rates than the standard ones. They also increased the rear-to-front axle rate ratio with the CP springs.

Thanks buddy! Im just waiting on the dealer to confirm if they even can get the car from another lot, but meanwhile it's yaz marina also on silverstone, as far as parts go, I'd do some research of what diffuser and lip and sides to get, DME tune will go in right away so as far as the horses I'm sure I'll get it well over 500

Convertible is the least desirable. You definitely feel the weight all. The. Time.

M4. Best looking. Best selling. For good reasons.

Thanks Ben, but giving the fact I already have an F85 another m3/m4 defeats the purpose of having something "different" per say, but I do appreciate your input!

On the E9x the difference was more apparent, on the F8x much much less so. As Ben Overlake said, you will always feel the weight comparatively, but then who gives a shit? It's a super fast fucking car that's WAY more fun to drive fast with the top down.

So unless you live your life one 1/4 mile at a time, the 'vert's the way to go.

Existing (until January)
