Good comparison. The added $750 for the mandatory PDC when you order an M4 with ZPX is a comically poor way to present that information. It's nice to see that nonsense isn't in the M3 guide. Hopefully they will fix that for the next revision of the M4 guide as well.

There are other subtleties here too. For example, if you want an M3 with cloth upholstery and ZEC, you still get bent over for an extra ~$1000. With the M4 you don't have to pay that additional sum for no good reason anymore, as you did in previous years. You also get Speed Limit Info with the M4 ZPX whereas with the M3 it's in a separate package. On the other hand, with the M3, you get heated rear seats which are not available on the M4. So basically, the $110 differential favoring the M4 in your comparison accounts for the difference in price between Heated Rear Seats and Speed Limit Info. However, I should add here that, if you opt for the Active Driving Assistant on the M4, you pay the same $500 you pay for the M3's ZDA Driving Assistance Package which includes not just Active Driving Assistant but also Speed Limit Info. So in that event, you are essentially paying an extra $110 over the identically equipped M4 for heated rear seats which isn't bad at all.

It's not clear why the two Executive Packages are broken out so differently, but it would be nice to see a combined guide with these things standardized like it was in the old guide. I suppose they are different enough now that they didn't want to do it that way.

M4:
executive package - $2100
(pulls in Park distance control) - $750
extended leather - $950
Heated steering wheel - $190
Total - $3990

M3:
executive package - $4100
(includes park distance control)
(includes extended leather)
(includes heated steering wheel)
Total - $4100

Differential - $110

Not too bad of a deal IMO.

All has to do w/ supply chain.

Probably getting rid of excess supply of parts before the model ends. Or prices jacked up on one part vs. another.

There's always a financial reason behind everything they do. They don't just "give things away".

I think it has more to do with their analysis of how the M3 and M4 are typically being spec'd by customers to date and striking a balance between minimizing available configurations and maximizing selling price based on that data.

LED lights are standard. It's the adaptive LEDs (i.e. the hexagonal lights) that come with the exec package.

Wonder if it's worth trading in the 17' ZCP for an 18' ZCP?

Same question but I've got a lease.

I'd like to get into an individual color 18 at the end of the run, so like June next next year. Probs to expensive to break the lease half way through though. Poor planning on my part.

Interesting that they added 7ME, can they modify the 17 or 16 using some software update , or 7ME option is only for the 18?

Well all good news, I had made an appointment with my dealer for this Saturday to do my build and secure an early allocation.

All I see is that prices are effective 7-1-17 and SOP is 7/2017. Doesn't give week number or date.

SOP is the first week of July thus "effective 7-1-17".

There are already a week 27 and a week 29 (mine) MY2018 M3 in this forum, at least. None of those are "end of July" SOP.

They look quite differently. The base bi-LED headlights do not have the LCI new look of the hex halos, they look like the old xenon.

Those specs are made up by BMW North America for the US market. They have nothing to do with the production of the cars in Germany. Each country package options differently.
