Hello,
I recently bought an M3 Comp 2017. Mechanically is good but the shop told me that the DME came with a tune. He reseted the DME using bmw software but he still having issues with misfire in cylinder 3,4,5 the car has 40k miles, coils are good, leak test good, new spark plugs ( had one with a step colder) How can I delete the software and have the original back? I do not want to drive the car and don't want to buy a new DME. I am located in Miami Thanks

It's possible the misfire is due to the different plugs and having an oem tune now

I don't know. Plenty of asshats are running E85 and doing all kinds of things on leased cars, then return them and you're left trying to figure out what they did

Just email PTF and ask them for help flashing your car back to stock. They can get their tunes uninstalled.

I am sure, I spoke with the shop who installed and uninstalled the tune. I assume that after reseting the DME with the 2020 ISTA software f the were any tune, it would be deleted

update 2
The second shop was right, installed M performance coil cables and now the M3 runs perfect. The first shop still insist that the DME is damage. Intercooler was leaking The car runs a bit lean, the mechanic found that the car had an aftermarket intake and when retrofit it to stock the MAF sensor was not installed correctly so the air pass through it Word of advise, never update the ISTA to the last version, because sometime has bugs. That is the reason why shop two could not communicate with the DME with its 2019 version, is like Windows, if it works do not fix it!

more news,
no more misfires but one oxygen sensor, before cat, is reading lean mixture. While his twin is not. So seems that needs to the replaced. The mechanic told me that some "kids" likes high popping noises with their tune. That is really bad for the sensor. Last time I buy an used BMW

Sorry guess I misunderstood the original post.
Carfax does what it does. Certainly a "clean" carfax isn't an unequivocal green light on any vehicle. As they say: absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. |

The car now runs like a champ!
the problem was the o2 sensor. The shop did a leak test and a compression test and all was perfect. Thanks all for your help

Glad it's fixed.
Strange how the problem occurred across both banks (cyls 3,4,6) with just one sensor failure.
