I ended up buying the final version of the LG 10.25" screen for the G30/F90, part no, 65509826394. According to realoem.com, this is the final revision of this part. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=65509826394 I will post pictures of the installation once I have it all done.

Thanks again, WhiteFox, for all of your informative and helpful posts about this upgrade!

Again, it’s not a 12.3” screen. It’s a 10.2”, up from the F8x 8.8” OEM size.

Judging from the previous posts in this thread, the screen part numbers 65508715339 and 65509825936 do work with the F8x NBT EVO units.

However, the new part number 65509826394 shows it is non-exchangable with the above units which are known to be compatible in the F8x platforms.

Has anyone dug into these to determine why some of the screens are non-exchangeable (something is different about them from the other making them not exchangable) or is tgb1974 about to have an unpleasant experience?

Hope not, but this does give me pause as to what the difference is.

My only guess is maybe the wiring connection or harness is different for each MY but that’s my guess I haven’t looked into it

This screen should work but would stick with the one prior as would have been some minor change to firmware would be my thoughts. The wiring is the same for all those screens but might cause an impedance error which would only show up in error scanning.

They are selling the adapter for this screen else you will have the back of the screen exposed and it will not fit into the current car as the legs are too short.

You need this adaptor to fit this screen else you will need to buy the F15 square one and cut some holes in trim to fit that which is not as good of a screen as they made via LG for the G series.

Sorry. I got mixed up.

This screen is available, can you confirm it’ll work?

Cheers

Yes very noticeable and easier to reach as well. Should have been what bmw should have done in the first place.

Does the G30/F90 display have better resolution than the F15 display? Or is this just your impression? Thanks.

Sometimes the vendor that made the part for BMW revises it a bit to correct problems or to make little improvements, hence the creation of a new part number. I doubt there will be any difference for our purposes as between the various iterations of this part. I am not aware of a known problem with an earlier version of this display.

By contrast, there was a known issue with an early version of the 8.8" touchscreen used in the F3x/F8x that would cause it to act like it was being touched constantly, especially when the sun was to rear of the vehicle. Later versions of the display corrected this problem. So, when I upgraded my head unit to ID 6 and got a touchscreen, I made sure to get the final revision of the display.

Indeed and would agree but for those who can’t the model prior is fine as nothing wrong or issues reported.

It must be a better quality panel then, as both the F15 display and the G30/F90 display have the same resolution (1440x540).

I realized that the Bimmertech adapter moves the 10.25" display about an inch or so closer to the driver than the 8.8" display sits, such that the display now ends about where the dash trim begins. That probably makes using the touchscreen features more practical and comfortable than with the 8.8" display. Has that been your experience, WhiteFox ?

Question -- There is a small plastic post basically above the purple APIX video port. Did you have to cut that off for the Bimmertech adapter to work? If you closely watch the Bimmertech video about the adapter, they appear to have cut it off. What did you do with it? Thanks!

Yes sits closer to the front hence easier to touch the screen when driving.

Yes you have to cut this off as not needed as was a locator pin for the G series.

Thanks very much for this information. The BimmerTech support people had no idea what I was talking about lol.
