I honestly didn't smell a difference between my non resonated 2>1 midpipe vs my EL resonated midpipe. They both smelled like something was goin' on.

Questions for those who have it already installed.
My EL mid pipe should get here this weekend. Will it come with everything I need to install? I'm guessing I'll have to reuse the mounting hardware from the OEM BMW factory setup. How was y'all experience with that? Did you need to replace any factory parts that were too rusted/corroded to reuse?

BMW Flange Steady - Genuine BMW 18307848046 x1 BMW Collar Nut (M8) - Genuine BMW 18307597650 x 4 BMW ISA Screw - Genuine BMW 07129905867 x 2 I replaced everything because I'm OCD. These parts are where the AA mid pipe connects to the OEM downpipes. After seeing all the parts, If I were to redo it again, I'd just get the 2x exhaust gaskets(I live in socal, my car has never seen rain because it isn't a daily driver). Seeing you are in NY, and salted roads, I'd maybe consider all the parts I listed. Everyone should buy these gaskets when installing AA single/EL - they are crush style (I can crush them with my finger nail..) so technically one time use. Although, if your car is relatively new you may get away just fine, but they are crushed after one use so the seal may or may not be 100%. |

I second JamesGames on buying those handful of parts new when installing this midpipe. If you can afford the midpipe, you can afford these parts. It's like $50 or so all together. Just do it. Your exhaust or tuner shop will thank you later. Or you'll thank yourself. Also pickup some anti-seize.

That's what I was afraid of. Because I'm stock not ZCP exhaust, stock mid, and resonated catless DPs and it's pretty noticeable. I think with a EL midpipe it'll stink pretty bad. I'll be a moving target for cops especially in SoCal

Awesome suggestion. My AA EL mid just shipped from X-ph and I decided to check this thread again. Just ordered those parts because I figured why not, i think we all have some OCD tendencies and having fresh hardware just makes us feel good...lol |

The stock DP with AA EL midpipe and Remus axle back is probably one of the best sounding setups on the s55 IMO. Still waiting for my tracking, probably next week now since it's already Friday. |

here are 2 clips i took. not the best videos (taken with an iphone near a highway lol) but hopefully helps somewhat. absolute night and day difference in person though. above 4k RPMs and this thing sings. it sounds exotic not gonna lie, especially on the downshifts. with the stock setup (valves open) downshifting was pathetic but now i find myself upshifting just to downshift 3 seconds later, for no reason at all. will get some more clips next week and upload those as well. |
