Sale to third party on a leased vehicle is possible but not straightforward as BMWFS currently owns the car. Lease transfer would be easier. Post some pics and GLWS.

why would it be more complicated? Its actually simpler here in Canada. If the buyer is writing a cheque no need for credit approvals etc.

BMWFS has title. Buyer writes cash check to OP but gets no title - BMWFS will not sell to third party so OP has to buy it out then get title in his name from BMWFS then resell. Might be able go to dealer and pay them to process it all at once.

Or OP takes deposit buys it out then resells and hopes buyer doesn't flake out.

Not sure about Canada.

no way is the process that inefficient. That would mean owner would have to pay sales tax and then buyer as well. I never heard of BMWFS not selling to 3rd party directly.

That's good to know if true about BMWFS. I know first hand GMAC won't sell direct to third party.

There's a thread with someone who wants to do a GTS manual swap - it's a bit of a bear because its not a plug n' play deal. DCT has its own harnesses, TCU, mapping, etc. versus say SMG and Manual which are the same underlying transmission. I will say though that I think F Chassis cars are really designed for the DCT and when driven in sequential/manual mode, it's very engaging - feels like a manual just minus having to clutch in/out. Having said that, lets say you pickup this CS and decide that it's a long term keeper, warranty is a non-factor, you still yearn for that 3rd pedal, and you have a little cash to spend - I think manual CS would be a pretty cool 1 of 1 concept car you could be driving around in!

I test drove a 2019 M4 CS at BMW of San Leandro. I agree that it was pretty engaging with the DCT. I worry that I would get lazy and leave it in automatic mode most of the time.

They had that M4 CS for a year, listed at the end for $68K, and no one bought it. It went to auction last week.

I can only speak from my experience but I never really drive in auto mode, I think the transmission works better when treated like a sequential/manual. There are, however, 3 very specific scenarios in which I will pop it over to auto mode:

1. Stop n go peak rush hour traffic on 80/680/24/etc (as soon as the road opens up I’m back into sequential)
2. Taking a client call while driving
3. Dates

In every other scenario and traffic level I drive “manually” - I think you’ll do the same if you’re coming from the manual mindset

1) Do you have pics of the accident before repair?
2) Was the car tracked?

I think the answer to your second question is answered based on the mods he has done to the car
